For those with a specific interest in New York City and/or African-American history, I found Harlem is Nowhere: A Journey to the Mecca of Black America an outstanding read!

I'm almost halfway through Foundation by Isaac Asimov . I first started reading the Foundation series 50 years ago and have reread them a couple of times since. It's still a very good read, even though I know where the story's going

Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, a fascinating look at a woman who pulled herself out of poverty and abuse.

Personal History by Katharine Graham, a candid inside look at life at the top with some interesting insights into personality of former presidents -- a must read for biography fans.

The Belgariad Series (5 books) by David Eddings, a 1980's cult classic fantasy series recommended to me by an old friend who loves it.

Next? Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe for a book club.

Next on my list - The Finding also by Nicky Charles.

This is a great series!

Probably the best one in the last couple months has been The Sentry by Robert Crais.

Good thread!

Best book I've read this year, or in a while, is The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey. Victorian horror/adventure, and the writing is magnificently done in period style. It's "Young Adult", but I've never had to use my Kindle's dictionary so much. Reading the sequel now and it's even better. Highly recommended.

I read Blindsight by Peter Watts in December and it's not only one of the best books the last couple of months but became on of the best books I've ever read, period!

He has released it under Creative Commons license, so anyone interested can download it for free from his web page: Watts

It's a hard Sci-fi book around the theme of consciousness.

The best English language book in the last couple of months for me would have to be The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog - Dylan Thomas - a lyrical and poetical series of short tales that seem intertwined with Dylan's growing up in Wales. Many favorite stories, but "Just Like Little Dogs" was perhaps my favorite.

Mysterious Affair at Styles - Agatha Christie - She always stumps me. In this one my first guess was wrong, but she got me to dismiss it, then showed I was right after all. Well, half-right. Good page turner, nice going back to a simpler time to escape what's happening around the world right now.

For those interested I have posted an ePub and Mobi version of this book that had been originally created by JS Wolf in the LRF format.
