DXG are still expensive as heck on eBay, amazingly. I guess as much as they suck, nobody is willing to give them up.

It's just silly to talk about it being a candidate for Watchdog, though, a TV programme that publicises and calls companies to account for fraudulent and deceptive practices, excessively shoddy customer service, etc. |

Device: kindle DX graphite, we need update/firmware with optios PDF Kindle 3
|
Well, DXG and K3 obviously not the same hardware. (cpu is other and ram X2), but:
I never wanted to process the pdf DXG, because I do not trust the adaptation to the screen, I prefer fidelity... So if the hardware does not prevent DXG can open PDF documents with password, because if you can K3. (user's own password obviously) And also are in need some different zoom options to suit different pdf, without having to jump shots image. only three zoom options,? ... and why not 5 or 6, what's the difference? then select the user. The last part is that I want an update of DXG that can "identify" clearly the page numbers of books, as in the K3 3.1, that has no hardware limitation, it is computationally quite simple. you may not have everything, but it is true that kindle DX graphite can improve its firmware. (folders, better controls mp3, www simple navigation windows (windows psp www Have 3) basic but important details. Greetings I'm pretty sure that these options do not involve the CPU overhead and are accessible to the system ram. I have not asked for miracles, right? ![]() ![]() |

I want my K2 upgraded to the latest Pearl screen. I paid $349 for it after all. Surely I deserve a little special treatment since I spent a lot more money than all of these K3 weenies.
NOTE: the author of this post does not really think K3 owners are weenies. ![]() |

Wow....considering the bombs being lobbed on this thread, it must be outright nuclear warfare on the Apple forums everytime a new product comes out since Apple pretty much invented the concept of disposable tech. Though I have to admit their customer service is pretty darn good!!

Want some cheese with that whine?
You don't have a leg to stand on, so you'd probably be better off asking Amazon, nicely, if they would reconsider any decision, they may or may not have made, not to provide any updates. |

I don't think K2/DXG owners are being unreasonable in the least. It's not as though the readers are years old.
I think I mentioned early in this topic that one of my mobile phones, a 4yo Nokia, got a firmware update a week or two ago. The computer in my 3yo Ford, despite being two or three models old now, stills get updated each service - the voice control system of various functions is way better now than it was three years ago for example. |

I agree - it is not unreasonable, but I question whether setting the dogs on them is the best way to go about it.

honesty you'd think from some of these replies that we are asking Amazon for the moon! let's get this straight, what we want is very simple:
- the ability to darken the text in a pdf - the ability to open a password protected pdf - support for extra greek alphanumeric characters - the ability to have page numbers (just released) why on earth are people defending Amazon against what should simply be a small software update and investment of perhaps a week within a small coding team? and it's not sour grapes...i just believe in taking action against private corporations failing customers, especially when it's so easily fixed. You might think it's simple, but you're presenting the lack of such updates as some kind of rip-off on Amazon's part, or some sort of failure to live up to promises made. But you've completely failed to provide any evidence that Amazon has sold the DXG on the basis of promises to provide updates to its functionality. So claiming that you've been ripped off by Amazon to the extent that would warrant the involvement of the Watchdog TV programme is a somewhat hysterical overreaction to a simple case of a company choosing to focus its development efforts on a newer product.
We've all been there - bought something only to see a newer, cheaper model appear shortly afterwards, with functionality we'd like to have in the model we bought. It happens. Most of us don't throw a tantrum over it though, or accuse the company involved of ripping us off because we happened to buy a product just as they shifted their focus to developing a newer model. |

As a consumer, we bought something expensive, surely we deserved to see ongoing updates. The point today is that they are focusing on K3 users more than DXG users. I am sure they are doing firmware now, otherwise there won't be any update released recently. but could they let us feel they do care about DXG users. (at least in update progression, just let us feel they will do something about it). That's all we want.
