Speculative fiction has always been my favourite genre, and I read pretty widely across the subgenres. I do tend to go through phases, and I've mainly been reading space opera and urban fantasy of late. However I'm currently reading Maria Snyder's Poison Study series, which is high fantasy. |

With the exception of Christian fiction (read some, found it about as enjoyable as surviving on a liquid diet) and true crime (used to read it when I was much younger but now that I'm older I've experienced enough pain of my own to not want to experience someone else's) I'll read most of the other genres on there.

My top ones would be sci-fi, fantasy, romance, mystery and vampires. Space opera and urban fantasy being my favorites at the moment; I usually stay away from cozy mystery series because I usually find myself dropping out of the series at about the third book. Actually, urban fantasy and space opera have been favorites of mine for over ten years, though I periodically go through phases when I read other genres. I read for escapism; I've realized that I've gradually drifted away from reading pure "literature" in the last couple decades. And I'm definitely NOT a 14 year old boy named Kevin; he could be my nephew, though.

Favorite Genre - Fantasy the Sci-fi. There's nothing quite like disappearing into a world that doesn't exist. Or that can make your imagination run rampant.

General fiction, sci-fi, horror and travel writing for me.

I love travelling and reading about others doing so, too. Sci-fi in particular for the writers imagination. Ingenious. |

I chose "Other" because I'm one of those snobs who claims to only read literary fiction. Not quite sure what it is is, but am clear when I am reading something that is not it

My tastes are rapidly changing after a brief time of reading blindness/deafness. I want to explore new things, see if I fit with the new fashions. So I give up my old passions. Bye James, Mordeai, Philip, Bernard, Primo, Cormac, Amos, Annie, Robert, Martin, David, Italo, Len, and all the others that I did not put on the touch yet. I can always go back to you when the taste for reading is well established. Leave place to Antonia, to Jasper and to what will come next ... |

DH prefers sci-fi/fantasy stuff, and I prefer mysteries, but we both read both especially the funny ones!

We read a lot of non-fiction too, biography (both: but different kinds of people)... DIY & military (him)...history & crafts (me). |

I read a lot of contemporary, christian and historical romance (like, as three separate categories) plus cozy mysteries. I love my cozies.

I'm kind of a bionerd, though, and I love nonfictions about new ideas in the science field, most especially epidemiology, immunology and genetics. Also... my one vampire series - Sookie Stackhouse. EDIT - Forgot to add that since I have gotten a Kindle, I've been eating up some of the classics. Jane Austen, Sherlock Holmes, Jules Verne... |

On "Other" I would have to put books by Dean Koontz and Terry Pratchett.

I don't like much fantasy (except Elizabeth Moon) and strangely I don't consider the Discworld series by Pratchett as fantasy???? Is there anyone else that feels the same? I think that I just like Pratchett's writing and characters so much that I accept the "magic" as an incidental part of the story. |

			Funny!

I imagine it's fiction that focus on "Christian" themes, that take place primaily in Christian environments and where at least the main characters are practising christians. And then I imagine the stories to be somewhat happy-sappy and perhaps also romantic
