There were a few books at Cleveland that I was interested in, mainly the True Blood series. It was a pretty lengthy wait for all the books to become available. Overall, even though Clevnet has 20,000+ ebooks, I don't find much of interest there.

The one thing I do have an issue with at FLP is the small waiting list. You can only put 10 eBooks on hold. And given the wait times on a lot of the more popular eBooks, I would like more holds.

To be entirely fair, some series aren't entirely available in ebook format. Try getting all the Company books by Kage Baker. The first one was only available as a pdf in a Tor giveaway years ago.

But, the library should have the entire series be it in eBook or in a combination of eBook and pBook depending on the availability of the eBook in ePub.

My library charges $5 per item - it's often cheaper to buy the book (especially since then I don't have to read it within three weeks, starting with the unknown arrival date).

I use both the Fairfax County and Loudoun County libraries and Fairfax has been adding a decent amount of books since the first of the year. I've been able to check out a nice selection of romance/chick lit, history, knitting and crochet books. The selection of science fiction/fantasy novels is poor but it's always been that way.

Each book has a wait list of 4 or 5 people, so obviously the library is getting what the users want. (anyway, not all romances are sexy but I don't think you needed me to tell you that)

But to be honest, it would have been better had DC library gotten in a selection of different categories of books so people that don't read what they got might have something available they do read.

Can't argue there. I wish they'd beef up their SF too.

I agree with that. It is quite different than saying the romances are worthless.

My local library does not happen to be a very good source for ebooks. The offering is already skewed to about 70% audio books versus 30% text. That and for the ebooks well over half are in the children or young adult category. So I find that the Philadelphia Free Library is by far my best option.
