Perhaps comparing the two is rather like comparing apples and oranges. The iPad is a sophisticated media retrieval device which contains a good e-reader. The Kindle is an excellent dedicated reader which is superior in its specific area. Last edited by fantasyfan; 01-29-2011 at 01:41 PM. |

I agree with most posters. I have just bought a Kindle after using my iPad for reading eBooks. The main reason I bought a Kindle was the eyestrain I was getting when reading before bed. The weight difference is another benefit.
Also, I can stick my Kindle in my pocket and take it everywhere. |

I have both. Kindle for books and newspapers, iPad for magazines (Zinio), PDF magazines, and Tech books or books with photos (Kindle iPad app, PDF reader, and ibooks).

I also have an iPad and Kindle 3, the Kindle beats the iPad hands down for reading - in fact I tried reading on the iPad the first few times but it's just too glary. Besides the weight, I feel a lot easier carrying my Kindle around since it cost a quarter of the price. Of course the Ipad is great for other things like movies and surfing the net plus great apps.

I had an iPad and returned for this reasons:
1. Already have iPhone 4 2. Can't read books without eye strarin 3. Too expensive just to have a device to play with. |
