Well I hope you inclued the OP in your little reporting spree. It was their rude post that got it all started. You can't make a rude and demanding post and expect to be treated with respect just because you are a newbie. People who politely ask questions here, regardless of how silly, are met with helpful and polite responses - including this particular newbie on the usb/ac thread they started. I honestly believe that nobody would have poked fun at problems the OP was having, as they are issues that have come up before, had it not been for the nasty tone of the post. |

I agree -- the OP's post seemed hysterically confrontational to me

Don't shoot me for this, but wasn't the OP attacking the Kindle rather than a person? (It's deleted now, but that's how I remember it.) There's a big difference in my opinion. I love my Kindle, but I didn't feel personally insulted by the OP's dislike of it.

I can have a rational conversation ... sometimes. Seriously, though, you can see the whole original post as I quoted it before my advice. I don't feel personally insulted by anyone's dislike of it, either. The OP was blaming the object for his/her own mistakes and demanding that we fix "the problem" for him/her. It's difficult to explain "tone" in speech. Read it in my quote and you will see what I mean. The wording of it just put people on the defensive. | |

yes, rude. quite rude. when someone DEMANDS "make me like this or it goes back!", they made it OUR problem. I went back and checked the other posts this person has made and overall they appear demanding, impatient, unwilling to help themselves (or read manuals) and rude. when questions are asked politely with a genuine willingness to learn, if I have the answers I'll spend all night abd part of the next day to help. it is ALWAYS easier to catch anything with honey rather than vinegar

Yes, it is, which is why I chose to respond to her frustration with advice, and even a little sympathy for her dissatisfaction. Her words were "help me love it" which made me think maybe, just maybe, she thought "Okay, these folks obviously see something great in this thing, so maybe they can help me not hate it."

I didn't find the original post rude, per se. I thought it sounded a) like trolling, and b) demanding (as if returning the K3 was somehow a threat to us). I also sort of thought that the "accidental purchased three times" scenario was implausible, at best, but I let that go. The one thing where the OP had a point was with the USB cord. It really shouldn't have been shipped attached to the AC adapter. I can see that confusing people (because it confused me for a minute).

*shrug* if it had not been for all the petulant other posts maybe I could have seen it that way. I know when I am new to any forum I take lessons from the dogs at the puppy park; no matter how big you are or what your reputation is, be polite, wag your tail, lick freely, nod your head and offer to play nicely. snarl and snap and you'll get what you deserve |

There's a subtle but significant difference, I'd suggest, between "make me like this" and "help me to love it" which is what they actually wrote. That aside, though, I think people could give new posters a bit more leeway than this guy got, and give them the benefit of the doubt until or unless they are so overtly rude and demanding that it's obviously not just poor choice of words or phrasing, and inexperience in posting to forums like these.
