Yes, and that deleted the book from my library

(and a bit of both. I really did delete a book from my library, because I thought it would be the default action if I had a reader connected to my PC, turned out it wasn't )

But I'd still need a click!

Besides, I think I shouldn't have to use the mouse at all. It should do what I want to do it, right now. User interaction is so yesterday!

Yes! Must have that DWIM feature! In addition to the paw-on-keyboard detector! Developers, hop to it, and maybe I will admit that your battery isn't totally dead!

And just in case you missed them, here are a few more exclamation marks!!!!!

Integrate this Still, once your cat figures out how to type "human", nothing will stop it on its way to world domination. I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

You're not alone.

One time I hooked up my son's ereader. Then sorted the library view by the on-device column. Once I had all the on-device items at the top I proceeded to go down the list and delete items (hitting the confirmation dialog each time) he had finished reading or would never read. It wasn't until I was into the items without the green check marks that I realized I was deleting items from my library and not his device.

Fortunately I was able to go into my Dropbox and restore the deleted book directories which included the books, covers, opf files and then restore the version of the metadata.db from right before I started randomly deleting books.

Maybe if I had a French cat this would never have happened.

Spoiler:
If you carefully measure cat paws, you will find that practically all cat paws are significantly larger than a typical keyboard key. When a cat first places its paw down, the cat's weight plus the momentum of the cat's movement exerts pounds of force on the keyboard, primarily through the cat's paw pads. The cat's paw angles and toe positions also undergo complex changes while the paw lands on the keyboard. This forces keys and often key combinations down in a distinctive style of typing which includes unusual timing patterns. Cats' patterns of overall movement in walking or lying down also help make their typing more recognizable.

So PawSense detects cat typing by weighing a combination of factors to achieve maximal speed and reliability.
'Careful measurement'. 'momentum of movement'. 'complex changes'. What a wonderful description! Great to see someone who, as he says later, tries to have fun while doing something useful.

This, again, puts me in mind of something else:

(XKCD)

Which only goes to show that I spend way too much time on the intartubes

Well, if I must yield to the yoke of Calibre, it might as well do everything, instead of doing things only partly so I'll still have to do most of it myself...

And I have the perfect cat-proof keystroke: win-M, or, as a last resort: win-L...

(see, no mouse required!)

I must stop using calibre until this problem is fixed.
Dear chaley

As per your requirement, the Calibre has been fixed.

I am afraid your system is severely misconfigured. But do not fear, we are here to help you.
When you install the Calibre for the first time, and you attempt to delete a book for the first time, a dialog panel will appear: The selected books will be permanently deleted and the files removed from your system, do you wish to continue?
At the bottom of this dialog panel there is checkbox, with option "Show this warning again". Your cat must have stepped on alt_S (after it stepped on Del and before it stepped on enter) and removed the check. Clever cat.
The situation is very easy to remedy. Go to preferences, Click on Behavior, and click on "Reset all disabled confirmation dialogs"

Yours truly
Kacir

Am I the only one wondering, not so much how they measured the pressure of cat feet, but how they got the cat to cooperate?

Getting the measurement method to work is usually glossed over in publications

A cat is always very happy to cooperate with these kinds of stuff. As long as you don't tell them what it is all about. You should always do as if it's not planned. Some acting skill is required.

It will be. I will be adding an enhancement that will prompt where you want the book deleted when you try to delete a book from your library that is also showing on the device.
