My opinion is that the 950 fits better in the K2 cover than the NC cover.

The external dimensions of the K2 and NC covers seem identical (if they are different it's imperceptible). It appears that the fit of the ereader is controlled by the placement of the straps internally. The K2 straps are more to the outside edges of the corners whereas the NC straps are inward more. The upper left-hand strap on the NC cover does overlap a tiny corner of my NC screen so I think it would do the same on the 950. Although I never noticed that until I just looked at it now!

Maybe someone can posts photos if they are using a Nook Classic or Color cover with the 950. I thought there were some photos posted a few months ago, but I couldn't find the old threads.
Thanks! yeah, I've been looking for any pictures of the PRS-950 in classic or color oberon covers, but haven't found any. Your picture of the PRS-950 in K2 is great-so helpful! If I had the choice to get Van Gogh boats in Navy in a K2 cover I think that's what I would decide.. (although, yesterday I thought I was going to get hummingbird in wine. and before that, da vinci in blue..)

I got my Oberon cover. I ordered a Nook classic cover in Van Gogh boats (Navy). The cover itself is beautiful, but I have to say that the fit with the PRS-950 is somewhat problematic. Here's why:

When fitted into all four corners, I noticed that the reader is crooked. The bottom right side sort of tilts upwards rather than being straight, which bugged me, and it also made corner protection on the bottom right worse than anywhere else. After I looked at it closely I realized that the bottom left side leather strap is straining to come out of the hole because it is extended too far, and therefore won't lie completely straight, and likely is pushing the right side up due to not enough space.

I removed the bottom left corner strap and kept my PRS-950 in the remaining three corner straps. This makes the PRS-950 not tilt upwards on the bottom right side or stick out of the case when it's closed. It is still secure (enough) although not as secure as it would be with four corner straps. I haven't decided whether I'm going to remove the bottom left strap completely or whether I'll just let it lie as flat as it can behind the reader in order to keep the cover pristine.

It was a risk I took because the design I wanted (Van Gogh Boats) was not available in the Kindle 2 cover. I would definitely recommend the Kindle 2 cover over the Nook classic cover. It is true that the power button is not obscured by the Nook cover. the top left strap touches the top left corner of the screen just a little, not enough to cover anything and it doesn't bother me, I'm happy that the power button is freely accessible. However, if I could go back, I might have gone with a K2 design instead due to the above problem.

Either way, the cover is gorgeous and I like the design and color I chose. I could see myself getting another one, although probably from checking out the Flea Market or other secondhand sources. I feel like many people may be upgrading from their K2s now and hopefully more covers will be available!

Long story short: get a K2 cover if you're going for a PRS-950, rather than a Nook classic cover.

ETA: just taking out the bottom left wasn't a great solution. I have to hold the reader down on that side of course to keep it from separating from the cover. I'm starting to wonder if my cover straps are a bit defective.. is the Nook made so that the top part is thicker than the bottom? the top left strap has lots of room in fact it's almost a bit loose, whereas the bottom left is straining to come out and forcing my reader to list to the right.. =/

My 650 is velcro'ed into the Oberon cover - no straps at all.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I should just remove the bottom left strap and then velcro it. It would destroy resell value, but then again I don't even know if a Nook classic cover would sell anyways. I'm almost considering trying to sell it at a loss and picking up a second-hand K2 cover just for the right fit. or maybe the bottom strap will stretch a bit with time and fit better. I'm also not sure if I can cleanly remove the straps. Bleh! Such a dilemma over my beautiful new cover..

I'm sorry that the Nook Classic cover is not the perfect fit, seajewel!

Do you know anyone with a Nook Classic that could test the cover to make sure it's made properly?

No I don't I really wish I could try it. I bought the Nook Classic one because of graycyn's report in this thread (not saying it's your fault, graycyn!!) AND because a review on Oberon's site on one of the Nook Classic covers said it fit the PRS-950 very well. It's hard for me to tell whether mine was just constructed a little off with the bottom left strap a hair too tight (likely it would not be an issue if my device was truly a Nook Classic though, which is slightly smaller than a PRS-950), or if the others just didn't notice the imperfect fit.

I would NOT "remove" straps at all, but tuck them behind the device instead!

N, I keep my 950 in the Sony cover at all times and then when I'm not reading, both are inserted into an Incase sleeve. Double protection!
