I took one of those tests years ago and it labelled me as a "closet extrovert." Which means, I guess, that I'm not really shy, I'm just a stuck-up b_____.

Introversion/extroversion is more of a spectrum than it is a dichotomy. You probably fall somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.

Is this "inner monologue" stuff? I have a relatively constant inner monologue, and sometimes my inner monologue has an inner monologue which is sometimed telling the first inner monologue and my outer monologue to "shutupshutupshutup..." and sometimes inner monologue is just telling my outer monologue to "shutupshutupshutup...", but they're all me, and not really other voices (i.e. not the auditory hallucinations of the schizophrenic kind).

Yep, me too....well not the shutupshutup stuff ('cept on occasion) but yeah a constantly running inner monologue except when I meditate to kill it dead-dead-dead-dead-dead!

Interesting. I have been considering meditation for some time, associated a lot with this inner monologue stuff. My father used it to much positive effect in the months-to-years of cancer treatment and "waiting" before he died (he died with an odd blend of Anglicanism, Catholicism, and Buddhism - heavier on that last - in his eyes).

You should give it a try. One of the zen meditation goals is to quiet that inner dialogue.

Well, I don't like to boast though. We can and do get along. Hey, I can and do get along with DixieGal and if I remember correctly she was almost exactly opposite me in the Extroversion category. It is a pleasure to know you, because we are so very unalike.
