That CJ Cherryh comment was a bit harsh. Because it logically suggests that Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and P.K. Dick award nominees should be suspect to you as well. She has many stories floating in that rare air.

Plus, her stuff spans a rather broad range. Personally, I picked up one Patricia Hobbs (no, I don't remember which one), got maybe 40 or 50 pages into it, and returned it, and the two others in the trilogy I had checked out, to the library and haven't read anything of hers since. Thank goodness I hadn't paid for them.
