Actually - further problem with 1.7.1: now only the preloaded books will open on my Kobo! Even books sync'd over with the desktop will not open on the kobo. epubs on the Kobo won't open. I highlight the book and click and nothing happens.

I'm having the same issue as above. I can't open up any of my books even though they show up in my books section. Between the constant crashes, the USB cable that doesn't fit, and this latest debacle I'm a done with the kobo. It's going back to borders tomorrow.

All sideloaded books now show-up in I'm Reading after update

I just finished the 1.71 update and all of my sideloaded books now show up in the I'm Reading List with 1% read, no matter how many times I re-connect. Do I have to rebuilt the database yet again?

Sounds like something I had with Kobo The First. All was fine after
next recharge.

We have a known issue where the % read on the I'm Reading list remains at 1% until you open up the book. The bookmark should be right where you left it, and once you open the book and close it, it should show the correct %. (couldn't get to this one in time )

IIRC this issue was only for synched books, but could possibly be on sideloaded ones as well.

Can you please let me know if that works?

Thanks for the reply. This actually seems to be the reverse situation. The sideloaded books that I am currently reading have the correct %. All of my unread sideloaded books show up as 1% and NEW in the I'm Reading list. They do show up correctly in the Library list as Unread. Any books sideloaded after the update show up correctly in both places.

I solved my installation issue. Someone mentioned something about SD cards in another thread, and I realized I had an SD card inserted in my laptop. I removed the SD card, reinstalled, and Kobo Desktop now works fine.

Quick suggestion - the desktop reader should offer the ability to search by price. Will future versions support bookmarks that can be shared across devices? I have a Palm Pre with the Kobo reader (evaluating Kobo and its apps), which currently is quite unfriendly and bookmarks don't work.

Unfortunately I think us on webOS have been largely forgotten. I can understand why with HP/Palm not releasing anything new for 10 months (and even that was just a pretty minor refresh of stuff announced now 22 months ago and released 16 months ago). Hopefully the relaunch with the Pre 2 and forthcoming devices (including tablets) we'll see Kobo dedicate more resources back to our platform.
