Does it fix the bug with the Picture viewer where if you view a picture in fullscreen, leave, and come back, the picture is *not* in full screen but the menu still thinks it's fullscreen?

The people with problems: Did you safely eject the USB device from the computer when upgrading the firmware? Otherwise, the file might become corrupted.

I think this problem is still there on some sites... you get a popup saying the site is trying to open another window, and that the Kindle Browser doesn't support multiple windows. Very annoying!

I can't get the 3.0.3 update to work on my Kindle 3 Wifi.

Right now I run 3.0.1 rooted with the screensaver and usbnetwork hacks installed.

When I run the update the following happens.
- The update screen passes very quick, less than a minute.
- Screeen "Update successful, restarting"
- Screen "Please wait while your Kindle starts up"
- Led flashes green
- Screen flashes
- The progress bar goes to about 40%
- Updating screen again. This time it says stage 1/2 in the lower right korner. The progress goes to about 25%
- Screen "Update not successful "

The device does a normal restart and i still run 3.0.1.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

No, it's still messed up.

I personally don't see why people get excited about the browser. If you try it with a typical website even in 3.0.3 it is excrutiatingly slow--as in dial-up slow. I've got high speed internet and I'm using WiFi on the K3. I tried to load and navigate espn.com and cnn.com. Both were a joke to load and rather unpleasant to navigate. I'm glad I seldom use the browser, nor care to, as I bought the K3 for reading.

That's why most people use the mobile versions of websites like ESPN and CNN. And in a pinch, regular websites work ok, just a little slow (but better than nothing if you really need access to a certain website and you aren't near a computer). Also, if someone has a smart phone with 3G then the kindle browser is less useful than for people like me who have NO smart phone.

Anyway, all I'm saying is it is really useful to some people.

@wahlis: Check your syslogs to catch the patch that failed to apply. (;dumpMessages).

Thanks! That gave me the info i needed to find where the problem seems to be
[code]
101020:200646 ota_install: I defatchatchinfo="/etc/sysconfig/iptables"atching file
101020:200646 ota_install: C defatchatchinfo="/etc/sysconfig/iptables":checksum failure
[code]

I made some changes to the iptables rules which I probably shouldn't have... Is there any way to restore the file to it's original value? Would a factory reset accomplish that?

Indeed! Amazon should have had all their sample bookmarks be mobile versions.. then it's pretty nice. Wish there was a shortcut key to go into Article mode (and you have to wait for the whole page to load for the option to appear in the menu). Otherwise, it's a nice feature for 'free'.

@wahlis: No, it won't. But you should have made a backup of this file before tweaking it anyway (or remembering what exactly you did tweak and removing it would probably work, provided it's bit-exact).

I've experienced one difference with this update that I dislike: article mode doesn't seem to work the same way anymore. It just zooms in now.

Also, just to make it clear: If you already had jailbroken your Kindle, it's still jailbroken after the 3.0.3 update, and all your hacks still work. The only thing broken is the *install* of the jailbreak on a *vanilla* 3.0.3 Kindle.

Does that mean that firmware 3.0.3 will remove the USB Network hack if it's installed? I have a faulty USB Network hack on my Kindle and it's preventing me from entering USB mode. If I wait for firmware 3.0.3 to come out OTA will it disable the USB Network hack on my Kindle?
