I've just joined the ranks of Sony Reader owners (650 Touch in Black) as of yesterday evening (my Cybook finally rattled out it's last paragraph).

TBH I thought the 'official' Sony case (the one without the light) seemed ridiculously flimsy and would offer very little protection compared to my old Cybook case which protects around the edges and a means of securing the flap. Waterstones had another one for sale for slightly less which I actually thought seemed sturdier, but it turns out my Sony will fit quite snugly (albeit not neatly) in my old Cybook case and I actually feel it's more secure and protected in there than those other two I've seen so far.

Am looking for recommendations; anything out there at the moment more akin to a book cover than a couple of flaps of cardboard?

Thanks!

Another question - how does the lighted cover work? I mean, in Kindle ligted cover there is an arm that can be hidden inside. Once hidden, the cover is indifferent to the standard one.
I can't pretty imagine how one can hide the lighted arm in Sony cover:

Is it just always out? If so, isn't it easily breakable?

I just got my lighted cover yesterday. I love it.
The articulated stem of the light folds down into the spine. Do you see that thin gap there in the spine, just to the left of the book? You can see the wider cutout at the bottom where the actual light fits. The light automatically turns on and off as it is extended or stowed. The light doesn't seem to add much bulk to the cover, or at least not as much as I feared. Also, the amount of light has two settings. I thought the amount of light available was just right. The low setting was perfect in a dim room and the high setting was great in the dark.

Yeah - now I see it
Indeed, seems like adding much bulk to the cover - but I'd trust edbro it doesn't

It does extend the width of cover by about a half inch. I can live with that. I was more concerned that it would make it thicker, but it really doesn't.

Even though I haven't used my light but a few times, I like the lighted cover for my 650. One thing I did find...Even though the pictures show the light above the reader, it causes too much glare in that position. The optimal position for me is straight up from the holding slot shining from the left of the reader.

cheap case for the PRS-650

I lost my PRS600 on an plane - no one handed it in, so when I bought a prs650 to replace it I wanted a case like my first reader. They had none in stock, what they did have was a load of 505 cases that no-one was buying so I got them to throw one in for free. 15 mins to file off the tab at the bottom, drill a 3mm hole and insert a steel nut and bolt from my PC spares and I have a new free case for my reader that cost nothing.
It 's just as secure as the case I had on my PRS600.
I think that it looks pretty reasonable.

It looks great! And you make it sound so easy...if I tried it, the results would probably involve a visit to the Emergency Room....

I'd probably be the one sharing the ambulance with you if I tried that out.

Hmm The case with the straps may work if you stitch the straps a little smaller or have someone do it for you.
M-Edge's site has all differnt types on sale I think $16.99

NEW COVER FOR 650

Just received my cover from "Tuff-Love" via. "Amazon UK" cost £24.

It fits well and securely leaving all the controls accessible and the stylus readily usable. Good range of pockets including three for memory cards. Also a pocket with a transparent window to display a standard size visiting card. It is not too bulky and looks smart.

Appears to be of good quality. Recommended.

Roger
