The onyx boox products can run the kobo app and the kindle app and all sorts of files and all websites, much more customizability too. Brands like kindle and kobo limit the user to their store albeit that kobo allows more file types than kindle but a very limited browser.

I understand, but you can still do this with other ereaders. Might even be a chance you can do it on the ereader itself, instead of on a computer.

so youre saying you can load other stores to the kobo ?
Yes you can open other files on the kobo which is better than kindle but thats about it. I really see no reason to limit yourself for the same price range. Last edited by Aktive; 07-29-2023 at 05:02 PM. |

You can buy from any store you want, remove the DRM, then copy paste the EPUB file to the Kobo's internal storage.

You need a computer to remove the DRM and to permanently change the formatting in the file itself. Can't do either on an ereader, Android or otherwise.

Not stores, but files. Why would I want to limit myself to store apps with their lack of customization options and unremovable DRM?

Yeah but why would you limit yourself on a new purchase. Honestly this is not logically.
The onyx boox devices are better than kobo. They have less limitation and more customizability. |

koreader is nothing compared to having android and all android app stores and a fully working browser. On a new ereader purchase its a no brainer.

Perhaps you should stop assuming that other people have the same priorities that you do.

That's fine if you prefer Android and its apps. As for me, I don't want to read my books in Android apps and prefer other brands. Everyone has different preferences and Android is not objectively better than any other brand out there, even if it suits your personal needs and preferences more.

Yes but the original poster is asking for ereader recommendation and onyx boox is a superior device over kobo with more possibilities for the same price range. Its not about you.
