Sadly Kobo has decided my credit card is unwanted No holds or anything per my bank. Kobo has done this in the past.

The new checkout screen has nowhere to put my Indigo card. And I have mostly depleted my Paypal balance. At least it let me buy that way, even if I never got the confirmation screen the books are in my library

Can I ask what happens when you try to use your card?
I can no longer use my main Kobo account as every time I try to pay for a book I get a blue page saying there was an internal server error. Its been doing it for a few weeks now.
I can use the same card with no problems on a different account though.

Well, bought my first book that - when it hit the library - said it was just available as PDF. I don't know if Kobo is worth it, even with all the coupon codes.

Hubby and I are using the code tonight in the UK store, so far we've bought 20 books. No recipts yet but I am downloading each book as we purchase.

I am hoping the worst that happens is that when Kobo realise whats happening and have a fit they don't honour the purchases and remove the books from my library.

They can't make us pay full price can they?

Thats happened to me tonight twice. It's never happened before, but not all books are like that. If you look at 'Available on these Devices' if its empty then its probably a PDF, at least that seems to be the case for my two.

My paypal payment is shown as pending (HKD) but the books showed up just fine to download in my library.

Anyone remember what happened last time?

I get a message in red saying something went wrong (sorry can't remember the exact wording). In the past it used to happen if I purchased 10 books without fail. My credit card worked fine yesterday with the 65% coupons.

Usually if I wait 24-48 hours it goes back to working.

I will have to re-add it and at the moment it won't let me. I deleted my card info to see if that would allow the Indigo card option to appear, but no luck. The option does appear on the old checkout, but the big coupon doesn't work with old checkout.

I think you should probably contact Kobo customer service if you have been having the issue for so long. I just did a chat (about a poorly formatted book) so they are there now.

I don't think so. All of my books from the magic coupon code last year are still in my library and they never charged anything extra.

How would they "make" you pay full price? If a message or e-mail shows up that I owe them X amount of money because of over-using a promo code, I'll tell them to take a hike. What would they do? Just take the money from my bank account? Not possible. Send someone to shoot me? Nah.

They could refund the amount spent, and take the books from the library. I think the very worst that could happen is that they consider the purchases a misuse of their service, and they'll delete all the books and the account without giving a refund.

In my point of view, you can't release 90% multi-use coupons into the wild and then bitch about people using it a lot.

Nothing happened. There was a multi-use ultra-coupon of 85% or thereabout just before Christmas, and a contest that spit out 70-80% coupons like breadcrumbs.

All of the books I bought are still in my library. Never heard anything, never got to pay anything extra.

Paypal sends me these receipts:

"You have placed an order for $0.70 at Kobo."

If I have 10 of those, I assume Paypal will pay Kobo 10x $0.70, and at the end of the month, will charge $7 on my creditcard. (Which is in my Paypal account, not my Kobo account.)

That is what happened last time. If anything else would happen, I would find that exceedingly weird, and would cause me to mistrust Kobo and Paypal forever.
