I agree code for 30% or less not really worth the effort. I have received some 35% and am posting them. Don't plan on using them because I spent so much using the 55% to 75% codes I received in last contest. I guess that caused Kobo some problems so kinda lame codes this time around. But I get it that they are in business to make a profit...not to support my reading addiction. lol

And I mean by that that they should post on each occasion that they want a lesser code - because so many have already been posted and more are likely to be posted.

It seems to me that members should be playing the contest for themselves if they are that in need of a code of 30% or less - the competition is full of them.

It also seems to me that if their need is that great that they would play the competition irrespective of where they live.

30% - 35% are not a small percentages. It's about 1/3rd off of the price. It's $3.33 on a $10 book. That's a nice saving. It's like getting every third book for free.

It's just that people here got spoiled rotten with the shower of 60-70-80% codes around Christmas... but hey, that was Christmas.

Katsunami most of the recent (monthly?) contests have given away codes of 55% or higher with some frequency - in fact a higher frequency than the stats provided with the Contest advise.

The regular posters in this thread know the ropes and have an appreciation of the whys and wherefores and how to get the most of their code usage.

Some people just seem to drop in to the thread around Contest time and start 'wanting' codes. (I'm not referring to you)

When people follow the thread and get the feel of the discount flow over a month or so then perhaps their ebook purchasing needs would be better satisfied.

No offence taken. I just have a stack of books I want, saved in my favorites, and I have a price in mind for each. As soon as a code comes along that makes it possible to get one of these books for the price I want to pay, I get it. Otherwhise, I just wait

I have to admit that I am one of those people who usually drop in only at contest time. In my defense I homeschool my son who is in middle school and I don't get much time to play. My book buying is also usually books that we use for school work and they add up to quite a bit without the discount. I cannot consistently play the game long enough to "get the feel of the discount flow". Sorry to have upset you and anyone else out there. Please ignore my previous request for those discount codes.

I'm not sure why others would want countless posts about which codes someone had used. Makes no sense to me. "I used 5tajdkayuii2uyiy!" "And I just used gYt7ua8A8%jlKIdj" does not in any way help me, nor, I suspect, anyone else. Can you memorize them? How do you keep track? Seriously. It takes far less time to simply enter codes at checkout until you come across one that isn't used, than to scroll through page after page of posts on this forum and jot down obscure letter-number combinations that someone claimed. By the time you've sorted out your list, already more codes have been claimed!

Meanwhile, contest time at this forum is lively and interesting, but it could use a few less posts.

I have no problem with others posting 10% - 30% codes. It's most likely a waste of energy, but maybe there are a lot of occasional lurkers who use them.

I actually like when people post that they've used the larger codes because I find having to copy, switch tabs, paste, and click apply to be extremely tedious and frustrating when met with that little red message.

Can you memorize them? How do you keep track?

The codes generally have the first 3-4 characters different - I don't find it hard to remember the first 3-4 used and just skip those.

So, different strokes.

That being said, I can respect that people subscribed to this thread would not want those sort of posts cluttering up their inboxes.

Pointless. You can count on any codes 55% or above being gone within 3 minutes of posting. If you find a 75% code on a post that's an hour old, you don't need being told that it's been claimed.

I have a feeling some codes "get lost" among pages of meaningless chatting in a non-chat thread.
Like that yournext404 (50% off) gets mentioned once, is quoted twice, it's not written on the first page, and it's followed up by a barrage of meaningless chat on the following page.

My point is can we keep this thread for posting codes mainly?
