I didn't know what I was in the mood for, so I started watching season 17 of NCIS. Which seems to be the right choice.

Earlier this week I watched the first two Resident Evil movies. I liked them both, but the first was definitely better than the second.

'Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power'. Pretty strange TV series. Looks great, the cinematography and sets are excellent. The acting mostly very poor level am-dram, script seems to be computer generated, and the story(!) so far has very little to do with the source material it claims in the end credits ( The LOTR Appendices & The Silmarillion)
Don't get me sarted on the accents used. Cod-Irish to Cod-Mummerzet and back again. Will probably stick with it, as a dedicated Tolkien fan, but this short series looks like it may end up equalling 'The Hobbit' films for awfulness!

I watched Hellbender last night and it wasn't good.

Tonight I might watch Carpenter's Vampires, or I might continue with NCIS.

D'you know that Amazon has stopped all reviews? Of their show? Into which they have sunk the EARTH in terms of cashola? The reviews were so pervasively bad that they just pulled the reviewing plug.

As a dedicated Tolkien fan--I mean, c'mon, who wasn't way back when?--I'm not sure I will stick with it. If it's bad, it's bad and let's face it, while Amazon has had some good luck with shows (the Reacher one is, well...better than the movies, at least), most of them are pretty lousy. Or they start out great (like that Billy Bob Thornton lawyer thing) and then go straight to hell, and so on.

It's a shocking idea, I know, but perhaps--just perhaps--Amazon should try listening to its customers tell it what they want to watch, rather than Amazon informing them what they should watch.

I wasn't sure if you meant that 2021 film or the older one, Hellbenders, which is awful in a rank, corny kind of way. Either way, though..."wasn't good" is probably about right.

You know, I'm very fond of that movie and that's funny, because it's nothing, NOTHING like the book from whence Carpenter got the idea. He licensed it and the author allowed that basically one--one--single line of dialogue had entered the movie from the book and that was that. The concept--a Vatican-funded Vamp Fighting Order--that was in the book. But after that, it was pretty much night-n-day.

It was the 2021 film, and "wasn't good" was an euphemism.

I did watch Vampires last night, and really enjoyed it. For some reason I expected either Danny Trejo or Tom Savini to show up an any moment.

I looked into the book and there doesn't seem to be a Kindle version to be available, which is a shame. I'm not curious to read it.

On Saturday I bought a ticket to see the No Such Thing As A Fish podcast at the London Podcast Festival. They are also offering a live stream for just over €12. I've seen this podcast live once in 2018 (I think) in Amsterdam. It was the first podcast I started listening to and it's still my favourite.

I'll bet.

Or Cheech Marin....kinda de rigueur at this point, isn't it?

There isn't AFAIK. I have a 2nd-hand paperback.

I started the second season of Only Murders in the Building last night, I watched four episodes. It's okay so far. I liked the first season a little better.

I realized this morning that I really want to watch Murder She Wrote. Not sure why. I know I have the first season on DVD, so I'll need to find it today.

Hitch asked if I had stuck with 'Halo' and it has taken me a while to get back on this. Yes, I stuck with it; I have two episodes left to watch, and I am hooked!
Silly Aliens vs goodies stuff, but something about it has drawn me into the world of the Spartans Vs the Covenant and I will certainly finish the series!

That's funny. I'd been debating going for something like either Kolchak, the Night Stalker (original, of course) versus MSW. I'm not sure I'm quite brain-dead enough for MSW, but hell, can't hurt to try. I've been rewatching MSM for the umpteenth time and the first two seasons of DIP, too, so what the hell.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll see if we can manage it. Mr. H struggles a bit if the dialogue is quite fast and he can't read the captions quickly enough to keep up...plus, he's "reading" the entire show/movie. Never sees the damn action. (And before anyone says it, yes, he has very expensive, set-up, etc. Hearing aids. AFAIK, the best made. Certrtainly the priciest!)

Just finished up "The Devil in Ohio" (limited series on Netflix). Horrible. Just horrible. They must have paid Emily Deschanel a ridiculously high price to get her to agree to sign on to this disaster.

I live in Ohio, and while the show's early attempted homage to all things Browns and Bucs was as laughable as it was overplayed, that's not why it sucked. It would be the horrible script, the terrible acting, and the wandering plot that took care of that. Sheesh.

Honestly, I've always through that without nepotism, neither she nor her sister would have been within 200 miles of a (commercial) film camera. (Although I'd have given the sister a higher percentage odds.) But having Daddy as a DOP helps.

Started watching House - I'm a huge fan of Hugh Laurie - but it's somewhat disconcerting to see him walk up to the pharmacy and say "36 Vicodin please" and dump them into his pocket. But I do enjoy his character's non-PC wit and snarky comments.

Still watching Billions - the Damian Lewis/Asia Kate Dillon contrast is still working in Season 4.

I tried to watch Kolchak (original) and MSW last year - not quite brain dead enough yet - both seemed way too silly.

Also a fan, not least because of this but hated the other characters in House too much to watch.

Well, I started to reply to these and then somehow bombed out. YES on disliking other House characters; (really disliked the ubiquitous "genius male subordinate always gets over on his shrill female boss" shtick), and yes, I'm not sure I'm QUITE brain-dead enough to watch MSW or Kolchak. May try it.

Gotta be better than Perry Mason Round 57.

Last night I watched the live stream of the No Such Thing As A Fish podcast and it was fun. After that I watched the first episode of The Imperfects on Netflix. I'm not sure what to think of it. It looks good, but in the first episode not much is revealed about the main character besides that they are different (as one character put it: a banshee, a chupacabra and a succubus). But how and why is yet to be revealed. I'll give it one or two more episodes to see where it's going and then decide whether I'll continue or not.
