I own a Glo HD as well and I just tried holding both without covers (I use the Libra without one usually, and the Glo with its original black sleepcover) and to be honest the Libra feels much lighter and easier to hold to me. I'm sure it isn't, but I guess the weight being distributed differently really helps with that. It might feel differently if you're holding it with both hands though - I'm referring to one-hand usage right now.
While I was at that I did a lighting comparison. With the light turned off the Glo HD's screen looks whiter than the Libra, and the Libra's grayer (I know it could be the bezel, but I put them one over the other and to be honest it doesn't look like an optical illusion). So when the light is on, the Glo's light looks very white and the Libra, in comparison, is a bit more grayish, especially at lower (<30%) levels. But it doesn't look greenish to me, or any other colour to be honest. It certainly doesn't look like the pictures that you all shared here, or Nate's video (which is egregious). I'm wondering now how common it is.

I have an ura H2O with cover that I do not find heavy at all. Given that it's not heavy, I would not find the Libra H2O heavy.

I think this is common. Your observation is evident in the pic I've attached in my review with the device LED lights off, the Libra is more grey while the GHD is whiter. The greyish screen might be part of the comfortlight system to achieve a better orangeness? So there might be trade offs. Just my assumption.

That is what I have been wondering. These devices are designed to be used with the light on, it might make getting the lit colour easier with the LEDs used. And our eyes compensate well enough that the greenish tint is not noticeable under most lighting conditions when the light is off. Or until it is next to something white.

Hello,

I've just got my Libra H20 but I'm disappointed as the screen has an issue:

- the backlight diminish from left to right (were are the buttons ) and there are some black lines again on the same right side

It's a known issue this? Should I returned it?

I have returned four (2 black and 2 white) Libra H2O for that same problem. I've decided to stay with my Clara HD that has a better screen.

Yuck..
C'mon Kobo... Get this fixed.

That sort of variation in lighting just totally sucks.

It is a very common issue. I went through six libras and none of them had uniform lighting on the screen. I ended up keeping one that was tolerable but none were perfect.

Serious question. Will Kobo re-sell the returned Libras as certified pre-owned units?
Should we anticipate a raft of discounted, recycled Libras?

Because, honestly, the screen doesn't look so bad to me. I'd love to but one at, say, 30% off list price.

It's noticeable if you look at it. Of course you know it's there. It's annoying if you let it be.

But while reading, at least I, don't see it at all.

I've come from a clara also, but could not go back 1 because of the screen light and 2 to a smaller screen.

One place they show up is on ebay from a few sellers who do this sort of "open box/refurb" selling as a full on business.

Peut mieux faire

Hi,

I have Kobo libra H2o for few weeks. Some data before buying for not-geek-ereaders:

Technically a good machine, but the page turning becomes quickly very irritating.
  • The screen is good.
  • The lighting of the screen is very good, especially if you read in the night without other light.
  • The reader is quick, it reacts well.
  • It is easy to use.
  • Reading parameters (font size, etc) can be easily changed.
  • I find the landscape mode very comfortable.

But...
  • Epub shall be changed to Kepub to have a correct pagination.
  • The screen is very sensitive. If you make large movements, it is OK, otherwise you randomly go back or forward. And there is no setting to adjust this sensitivity.
  • If you choose the "touch" mode to turn pages, you can not remove the "slide" option, and because of the sensitivity of the screen, you often go back instead of going forward when you touch the screen.
  • The buttons are too far from the sides. So they are not very easy to use when you hold the reader with both hands (except if your thumbs are 10 cm long!). With a PocketBook touchlux for example you do not need to loosen one hand to turn the page and it is very comfortable...
  • In landscape mode the inversion of the buttons does not work (bug).
  • Whatever the area screen setting, except if you use the center of the screen, you often trig the parameter menu instead of turning a page.

My opinion : if like me you use a reader without sliding but just by touching the screen to turn pages, do not buy the Kobo.
