It's possible he was, um, coerced into not mentioning the firepower of the squirrels. I mean, would you argue with a squirrel who had just blown up some-one harmlessly involved in a metaphysical dispute?

But in the squirrel's defence, it was probably fed up with being chased round the tree.

The tide may turn on the squirrels this winter, at least in the U.S. I heard on NPR (National Public Radio) yesterday "In Some Parts Of Country, A Shortage Of Acorns":

All Things Considered, December 1, 2008 · Naturalists in some areas of the country have noticed a lack of acorns this year and scientists are at a loss to fully explain why. Naturalist Jennifer Soles of the Gulf Branch Nature Center in Arlington, Va., says it will be a "really hard" winter for squirrels.

As I understand it, the output of acorns from oak trees varies from year to year. And in the area North of something like Virginia through the midwest to central Canada, the output this year is almost nil. I suppose that means there may be more rummaging through someone's attic looking for food and causing havoc. I wonder how sales in miniature bazookas have been lately?

Sorry, I'm in the middle of a novel now, I have a holiday card and a website to design, a vacation to plan, my Queen to murder, and Guilder to frame for it. I'm swamped.

I just found an old roll of 35mm film. It looks like it has been shot (the leader is inside the canister.) I have not used a 35mm in many years.
