Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist are classics of the genre. Read them about a million years ago and enjoyed both.

I love Herbert's writing and have quite a number in ebook format.

Stephen King's CARRIE is on sale for $2.99 at Amazon USA

Quote:
Stephen King's legendary debut, about a teenage outcast and the revenge she enacts on her classmates.

Carrie White may be picked on by her classmates, but she has a gift. She can move things with her mind. Doors lock. Candles fall. This is her power and her problem. Then, an act of kindness, as spontaneous as the vicious taunts of her classmates, offers Carrie a chance to be a normal...until an unexpected cruelty turns her gift into a weapon of horror and destruction that no one will ever forget.

The Window by Glenn Rolfe is $0.99 at Amazon US. I was mainly attracted to this one because the image of a man staring out of a window at all hours reminded me of the book The Sentinel, which I greatly enjoyed.

Aside from that, I don't think the two books have anything in common.

Quote:
For Richie, life's constant cheap shots are adding up. When he finds something is watching him, he never dreamed that it would show him everything he ever wanted.

When his son, James, comes to stay for the last month of summer, the changes in his father's behavior come to the forefront. What is his father doing staring into the window in the middle of the night?
Was the fiery spark in the dark real? Or is Jame's imagination getting the best of him?

Summer's almost over.
And life is about to change.
Will James be able to save his father? Or is it already too late?

The Window holds the answers...and the key.

Now the model needs to take over and become a nun (which makes no sense if you aren't familiar with The Sentinel, I suppose. Those are the risks in making jokes relating to a 45 year-old horror novel, I suppose.

Coincidence!

The Sentinel by Jeffrey Konvitz is on sale for $1.99 at Amazon US. I read the book years ago and enjoyed it.

Quote:
Aspiring model Allison Parker finally moves into her dream apartment: a brownstone on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. But her perfect home quickly turns hellish.

The building is filled with a cast of sinister tenants, including a reclusive blind priest, who seems to watch her day and night through an upstairs window. Eventually, Allison starts hearing strange noises from the empty apartment above hers. Before long, she uncovers the building’s secret and is plunged into a nightmare of sinful misdeeds and boundless evil.
There's a sequel, The Guardian which I didn't like nearly as much.

The Sentinel was filmed fairly faithfully. I enjoyed that as well.

I liked the film, The Sentinel, so I thought I'd give the book a try at $1.99 but when I followed the link it came up at $6.15 yet I'm checking this just barely over 1 hour from your posting! lol oh well.

BTW I ended up getting The Nest. Plan to eventually buy more of those Paperbacks from Hell as I get more money but man I've been spending a lot lately on books. Need to calm down lol

This is "The Sentinel" edition I'm familiar with, although I've never read it. I remember seeing it all over the place about 40 years ago. (The attachment s on the left. You must be referring to the one on the right.)

How do we know that's not James Stewart on the cover?
