I average about 1.2 - 1.5 in speed I think. I do keep a check on it. I do know that my brother about 1/2 mile away has DSL and I am faster than him.

Oh man I couldn't live like that I just couldn't. I will keep my 30MB D/5MB U plan with my Cable company. Everything I do is on the internet. Everything! Watch Movies/TV Shows/Talk/Surf/Shop. If I don't have internet I will go nuts. I got 3G as a backup which has come in handy when I need to yell at Charter on Twitter to fix their internet.

I honestly could never leave the farm. When I travel I hate it. To much noise, no privacy, to many people. When I was in Atlanta for RWA, I could not wait to get back home. Was suppose to stay until Sunday afternoon. I left at 12:01 am Sunday Morning and drove home in 3 hours ( I am 250 miles from Atlanta). Call me a true country bumpkin and I will agree 100%. I like going to sleep with nothing but the cows mooing every now and then, frogs croaking, crickets chirping. Can't stand hearing the traffic in a city.

It's too bad that you had a bad experience but mine is great. I love my HDX especially with this last upgrade. Text is crisp and videos are awesome, love the sound.

It was 3 bad experiences and while the Text is nice not as good as Nexus 7.2 but very nice the blue LEDs is not good to read on specially for migraine sufferers. Then there is the horrible Blue Bleed you may not notice is as much depending on your unit till you compare it to another tablet that uses Normal LEDs and then there is a HUGE difference in quality of screen. I could care less about videos or sound quality I wanted a reader and the HDX does not caterer to us who are.

I live in the middle of nowhere and while I love quiet I don't get that neighbors dogs barking, people playing their loud music or kids running amok. Ugh! Sometimes I just want my own island with fast internet and amazon Prime and a grocery store and Walgreen's less than 15 minutes away and I'd be very happy!

I live 30 minutes from a city that has most of what you need (walmart, kroger, walgreens). My neighbors are over a mile away. If a dog is barking it is mine or my parents and something is wrong. But we usually don't leave the dogs out at night to many coyotes & wild dogs.

My neighbor in the unit next to me leaves her puppy out and it gets tangled on the deck stairs so I can't nap or read on couch without her loud bark. She is a hound dog and you know how loud they are. She will comes home around 6pm and leave the dog out till 9:30AM tangled like that. They use to have 3 dogs but then she got pregnant again and they kept only one so I guess I should be happy it's only one. Around 9PM my other neighbor in the other unit gets home and cranks up his music. I go to my bedroom to get away from it all but I can still hear the dog so I run a fan to drown it out.

I love my Nexus 7, too. I haven't loaded any reading apps on it except Nook and Sony. Sony won't let me open it because it keeps getting hung up on the ADE activation. I know I am entereing the correct password as I just changed it due to the hacking fiasco at Adobe. Will try to have a chat with the Sony folks tomorrow.

I plan to get the Mantano app (paid version) but am making myself wait until I finish my great Calibre check-and-reconvert project. I still hope to be done by the end of the month, though I am a bit behind schedule. Plus I plan to take a chunk of time Tuesday to read the new Shannon Stacey book.

That is so sad. As a pet owner I would call animal control. Leaving a pet in dire straits like that is irresponsible

Blossom I will go crazy. I have a hound but he only howls when I leave the house for more than a day. I will stick with my satellite internet and no neighbors. I have always laughed that I could walk outside naked and no one would see me but the cattle. I could never live in a city. Never. I know they say never say never, but I am serious. Married once and said I would never do that again and I haven't. Had one baby and said I would never have another, never did. When I say never, It is the truth. it will never happen with me.

Animal control out here could care less. It's sad but true. Landlord did put out a flyer that they people were not allowed to leave their pets unattended all day. So before that flyer during the summer it was 8AM till 9PM everyday and there was like 4 pet owners who did this. I would hear dogs barking and whining all day long. So it was the best we could do. Now it's just while they are home. Luckily tonight it's so cold no dog is out.
