This is for utf8 text, and epub and mobi has not been addressed yet. They not doing this correct, and many of these will characters will fail in dictionary lookup, in layout, etc. But they are working with it.

Other errors:
- the battery symbol is not correct on K3
- trouble with Wifi finding networks
- new install attempts with usbnetwork software, still no luck with any, new or old version.
- screensavers do not seem to work after settings been changed, and settings do not work properly

Dictionary attempt:

Had some document which I believe is Chinese, and tried finding some dictionaries, Chinese-English. Tried these
cedict-big5.dict
langdao-ce-big5.dict

Think they are for Taiwan, and not sure how the big5 encoding suit here. If anyone has some advice for what to choose, I would be interested to know.

The strange thing is that it does not open the dictionary when the cursor is in front a character. Instead I have to mark the words or character. However I need to delete some space in front sometimes, and delete following words sometimes, until I get what the screenshot shows. Does this look correct ?
In some cases, a list of words may appear from other languages.

Created a new Catogory "audio" ( had to create a folder later ? manually..) with files:

(unsure about the file ending, as it I hoped to test .aac -just renamed a .m4b file at the end. Have never tested audio-books, and welcome comments - but I believed Kindle should handle .aac and .aax ?)

Results:

- mplayer do no longer open folders for selections, and songs don't seem to be able to use outside "music" folder. And then - It no longer plays any music at all !!

have the same files in folder "audible" and tried Amazon-OS, which only plays 19574-06.mp3 in "music" folder. Same results with an old Duokan ( beta 23 ) - but the latest release is silent ( perhaps it does play a music file, but there is no output )

- mp3 do not work on DXG or K3G with the latest release !

..bummer..

This version has an exclamation mark across the battery symbol - constantly. They are using rmmod.
..but I have lost track of where/what I was thinking. Good thing my head is attached to my neck, or it had probably been long gone. Hmm... perhaps IT IS ? - but hasn't informed me ?!

1. I have files in the "music" folder
2. There are no sound ! Not on any mp3 files. Volume at full, but there is not even a hiss from the speakers or headphones.

With the earlier audio-book example:
19574-06.mp3 and it is clear from the screen that it does open the file - it comes up with the track name.

BTW: same on both K3 and DXG

Reported in 0000682: Short-cut letter "S" collide with Search function.
The effect was rather massive on DXG ( had bold characters ), but in post #557, it says:

Looks like it is intended. ( ? for what ever reason )

Reported in 0000683: pictures in every folder appear in home listing.
10 of 18 pages in the home folder is images found in every folder on the system.
( it also include all Amazon screensavers )

..ok, but the usbnetwork is one of the objectives now ? I have not been able to establish any connection.

What can I do to connect to it ? - I have not been able with the Duokan network files.

That's really a pity. There are a lot of international users who see in Duokan a great tool for their Kindles and even better than the official OS. And limiting the acces of them due to theses language problems it's limiting the use of Duokan.

I know the original idea is an OS for asiatic languages (chinese, japanese and korean) but it's a pity to restrict its use to a particular area when you can make a program for all.

Well as a french reader I can't agree more.
But if we were the developers, maybe we have to admit that the chinese caracters would not be at the top of our priorities.

What is strange to me, is how complex it is to code a music player, compared to characters codes, so basic. I just don't believe these problems are hard to fix.
If only it was opensource we could change these faulty code lines.

I hope Duokan will inspire new coders from US/Europe to start their own UI.
But Duokan is really really close to be perfect, I am pretty sure it is a matter of weeks to be solve.
Well for me it is, I don't listen to music, I don't buy Amazon books, and I make my books in PDF, with the font and size I want. (tooks me like 5mn for a book I will read for days)
