Some of those authors are waiting for hollywood/bollywood to call ....

I really enjoyed the Chandler book. Only my second time with him (first was "The Big Sleep"). With lines like An hour crawled by like a sick cockroach, how can you not love him...
I'm looking forward to reading it.

The characters are well defined and motivated and the scenario is scaringly real. I ran a short review on *Risen* here and remember saying that the fear wasn't so much that it could happen, but that it was already happening. A superb novel. Highly recommended. Cheers. Neil
Thanks, Neil, but you're a day late and $4.95 short! I've already bought the novel from Amazon!

What a great book! Bram Stoker was a master at creating an eerie atmosphere!

I just read the mobi version of High Noon by poohbear_nc. What an epic adventure! I laughed, I cried, and I'm suing poohbear_nc for Definition of Character.

If you missed it, check it out. It's loads of fun, and you may just be one of the characters!

I just finished "The Long Goodbye," and am moving on the "Cyrano de Bergerac." Reading in the Chandler book, I kept hearing Bogart as narrator. (HitchHiker's Guide always evokes a middle class London accent.)
Less profoundly, Cyrano alters between Alec Guiness, Sean Connery and Steve Martin. No, I don't get it either.

I'm about halfway though Darkfever, the first in this series. It's not bad but nothing has really happened. . Do I really want to read 5 of them?

I hate to say it, but I gave up on Good Omens. I found I was skipping ahead looking for Crowley and Azriphale's names, because they were the characters that I was actually interested in. That's no way to read a book, so I took it back to the library. Maybe I'll give it another try some day.

Read it a few years ago in paperback and loved it, but I do love both authors, so that may explain a lot...

I enjoyed Gaiman's Coraline, but I was never able to get into American Gods. I'm planning to give that one another try. The only thing I've tried to read of Prachett's before is The Last Continent. I didn't get very far in that one, so maybe Prachett just isn't the writer for me?

I really did love the Crowley and Azriphale bits in Good Omens and would have enjoyed a book just about them, without all those other distracting characters running around.
