Another problem with a work-in-progress movie is the temptation to include every possible option including the ramifications. As an example, in the "Han Shot First" controversy, imagine the arguments that would result with the options where:
It seems like technology has been undergoing a convergence, with one device doing the all of the jobs that used to be done by many devices. However, in some cases these functions work against each other. As an example, for watching video and reading ebooks you want a large screen. But with uses like phone and listening music you want a small device that you can easily carry with you. One possibility is something I saw in an anime (Armitage III). The device was multipurpose, but had the ability to generate a large holographic screen when needed for reading or watching video. The device itself could easily fit in your hand, making it easy to carry. Better yet, it could be made part of your clothes. Imagine touching a button on your sleeve and a high-resolution screen appears in front of you, one with a privacy features so that you are the only one who can see it. |

If we can't post pictures of animals thinking things then Internet humour is dead.

I frequently feel that I've killed a thread when my posts get no comment -- or my posts leave a thread dead for a while. Apparently it isn't me or you; it just happens. Or at least -- it isn't YOU. It might still be me.

To quote Monty Python: And now for something completely different... I was pondering (no I'm not The Brain) about the musical group "Prozzak" and how the group seems to have a sad take on relationships. The song titles say it all:
Look at the song Alone Again (Naturally) by Gilbert O'Sullivan. One thing that is striking about the song is that it is about someone who has decided to end it all after being left that the altar. But it was still a Number One song in the U. S. |

But then again .... saying something about the previous post is clearly against the topic of this thread. So it would be off-topic, and thus perfectly correct for this thread.
Nicely paradoxical, no? ![]() [ And yes, I have always liked "Alone again, naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan .... ] |

Now on to something else: Will cursive writing survive into the future? It seems that fewer and fewer people write in cursive due to the advent of computers and the changes in the way that people write. Due to this I think that, eventually, cursive writing will completely fall into disuse. From what I understand, the reason for cursive grew out of the use of quill pens. Cursive allowed you to write in a continuous stream without having to lift your pen from the paper while writing each word, an advantage when writing with a quill pen and its descendent the fountain pen. While ball-based pens (like ballpoints and gel writers) can be used to write cursive, there is no need to write in a continuous stream. |

"Two Bits," a nickname for the U. S. quarter, is derived from "pieces of eight" (two pieces of eight equals one quarter).

In ancient Greece men would carry their money in their mouth. Gives meaning to the phrase "coughing up the money" doesn't it.
