(When ever we travel to a country where I can buy them, I always pick up a jar to keep in the hotel room. ![]() I have the same problem with Jimmy Dean's Breakfast Sausage. I can make really good breakfast sausage, (breakfast sausage is about the easiest to make,) but it never tastes the SAME as Jimmy Dean's. It's like when I was a kid and asked my mom to bring home Oreos, and she would show up with a bag of Hydrox or some other brand of the same sort of cookie. It's just not the same... Stitchawl |

I'm craving a huge cheeseburger. Like, one from Denny's Beer Barrel Pub.

The Koreans have their kimchee made from cabbages, daikon radish, cucumber, etc. but always with a spicy red pepper coating give strong flavors. But Japanese eat an entirely different 'pickle.' Not at all strong flavor, but often with a strong smell. No vinegar at all. Just salt. Or instead of salt, the ground up powder from the husks of milled rice, with cabbage, eggplant, daikon, etc., buried in a wet mudpack of that stuff. Not at all what I would think of as 'pickle' but pretty damn tasty, and eaten with all meals. Makes for a nice side dish. Stitchawl |

Craving.... Smoked brisket sandwich, a pile of fried okra, my potato salad, and a huge cold pack kosher spicy dill pickle.

I'm going to have to wait considerably longer than that - my grill died. So no smoking brisket for me until I get a new one.

It was a charcoal grill. I'm not sure what I'm replacing it with yet. We went looking at grills today but didn't make a decision. I found a charcoal grill I loved but it's considerably bigger than the old one was, which means it's going to use a lot more charcoal. So even though I prefer the charcoal taste, I may end up going with propane for cost efficiency. I can get a lot more than one meal's worth of cooking out of a tank of propane.
