It is not beyond the realms of plausibility that the battery was weak by design precisely in order to promote sales of the power cover accessory.

They've sold quite a few of them though "purveyors of new apparel to the Emperor" perhaps?

Unless I missed it, Kobo has delisted it from their website.

What are the details on the charging cover? Cost? How does it work (with its own battery or what?)? It must add quite a bit of weight, relatively speaking...right?

On my Kobo site the power cover is the equivalent of $95US and I believe it's approximately half the weight of the reader itself, both major strikes against it for me

I doubt Kobo will produce a replacement model for the Sage. The past product release schedule suggests we won't see a new 8 inch flagship for another 2 or 3 years. I believe the Forma was released 3 years prior to the Sage.

Everyone should keep an eye on their used ereader market on occasion to see if someone is selling an Aura One. Sometimes they're available for really cheap.

I think the Aura One would get my vote for best ereader ever. I know there would be a contingent of Voyage fans who would object. Hard to argue with the first 7.8" reader and first temperature control front light.

I would use it only for keeping the Sage in while not reading.

I pre-ordered it from Amazon for 55 €. Still not available, of course.

Yes, it has its own battery.

No Aura One for me, no matter how cheap. The lack of page-turn buttons is a dealbreaker and I hate the shape.

I was not a Voyage fan either. In fact, there is no ereader produced so far that would get my vote. Every one of them has flaws. From the current crop, the Sage has excess weight, poor battery life and uneven frontlight, the Libra 2 has an older processor and is slower than the Sage and the Oasis 3, and the Oasis 3 has a metal back, locked down software and worse contrast than the new Kobos.

I have the Aura One and have recently started using it more. I really like it. The Forma is sometimes a bit tempting for the buttons but not unless it comes down a good bit. It also isn't as good a shape as the Aura One.

Kobo are the PowerCover as available in Australia for $129AUD. This is the first time I have seen them as available. And JB HiFi have them available for delivery, but not in store.

Looking at the local Kobo site and ChaptersIndigo, both show the PowerCover is available for $99.99 Cdn (~$78.17 US). For me, ChaptersIndigo has the better shipping and the advantage of a B&M return.

The only reliable weight I could find for the PowerCover is the shipping weight (259g) but I suspect I would be unpacking the PowerCover before use so that number is pretty useless. The numbers I found for the weight of the PowerCover by itself were not consistent though one of them was worth a laugh since it stated the PowerCover added 450 grams to the weight of the Sage.
