Hi, I have just been using calibre. I wanted to convert PDF to epub which calibre did so. My problem is that my PDF has links within the file such as TOC entries are linked to its target pages and Footnotes to footref. When I convert it using calibre to epub, these links do not work anymore in the epub file. Is there any way to retain these links?
Thank you in advance for the help. |

not at the moment. A new PDF conversion engine is under development that will preserve links much better.

HTML to ePUB Issue
Hi,
I bought a book in DRMed ereader format and removed the DRM using the python script ereader2html. The output html displays fine in Firefox and IE but when I use Calibre to convert it into EPUB, everything from the second chapter onwards is in bold (when I view the EPUB file in Calibre). I tried editing the html but to no avail. Has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks. |

Hi Kovid,
I really appreciate your efforts for making the 'Calibre' user friendly. I am new to Calibre and I did a conversion of my pdf document to epub. The problem is Calibre is combining both columns of my document into one single line. Am I doing something wrong? Regards, RJ |

calibre doesn't currently support conversion of multiple column PDFs, however that is under development.

Hello kovidgoyal et All,
Can you create ePUB with embedded fonts using Calibre? As far as I know there is only an option in the command line ebook-convert – but only in the output to lrf. Is it possible for ePUB, as well? |

Change the ePub output structure
Hi,
Is it possible to change the structure of the ePub output file with certain parameters in the conversion process? For example if I want to put the document files and stylesheets in separate directories like \OPS and \CSS? Thanks. |

I still have a weird output problem though - every paragraph is tagged H3! I had a look at the source and it did something really weird: Code:
<h3 class="calibre1"> <span lang="RU" class="calibre2"><span> </span>The history of the Galaxy has got a little muddled, for a number of reasons: partly because those who are trying to keep track of it have got a little muddled, but also because some very muddling things have been happening anyway.</span> </h3> <h3 class="calibre1"> <span lang="RU" class="calibre2"><span> </span>One of the problems has to do with the speed of light and the difficulties involved in trying to exceed it. You can't. Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws. The Hingefreel people of Arkintoofle Minor did try to build spaceships that were powered by bad news but they didn't work particularly well and were so extremely unwelcome whenever they arrived anywhere that there wasn't really any point in being there.</span> </h3> |

I have a question about the Book Jacket. I have removed the checkmark from "Insert metadata as page at start of book" under the "Structure Detection" menu, but I'm still gettting a Book Jacket after conversion. Also, it shows the word "none" if there are no comments entered in the metadata, which is a bit distracting. For some reason there are 2 Book Jackets created in each of my eBooks, any ideas why?
I am converting from a .prc Mobipocket file I made a few years ago. Both are attached. Do I need to find the source data and start over again to get a 'clean' ePub output? |
