Help, I have problems with the new update (I have M96, bought from ereader store.de).

When applying the new update everything starts ok, but then I get some messages like:

'' Finding update package
Verifying update packge
Signature verification failg
Installation aborted ''

My current build is: 2014-10-27_17-04_1.6.5_a3cfeeb.

You can probe to install from the recovery.

Put the update.zip in the SD card, start the M96 with back and power button pressed until recovery appears, and "install from sd card".

I allways update with this metod and it works for me.

Mine is the Lynx edition and i keep getting a scanning/indexing message almost anytime i wake up the device.
Its sometimes possible to cancel this, but its absolutely annoying. And it seems to ignore all settings to scan only Books dir etc.,

If the Booxtor edition doesnt have this bug, i plan to convert my lynx to Booxtor.
I had exactly the same problem. Otherwise I was very happy with the reader as it was. I've changed to use the Booxtor firmware and the problem went away. Kuskro links to the thread describing how to do it. It's not quite as straightforward as it seems if you want to revert or upgrade to a different version of the firmware than booxtor links to. Post #7 in that thread describes the appropriate procedure.

I bought my reader to be primarily a reader, secondarily an eink Android tablet. It works fine that way. Thus, I would not advise making the changes that Kuskro recommends in his second link. They're not harmful and do they make the T68a better tablet but that wasn't my desire. I want a reader first. Just my $0.02.

Thanx, this worked.

Just one more question.
Does the latest (april) update contain all the stuff from the previous ones too ?
I updated my M96 to april edition from the October edition (I didn't installed any new updates after October).

It seems I now have a fiffeent problem. After I turn on M96 I get messages:

''Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped.
Unfortunately, the processs.com.google.process.gapps has stopped''

Should I simply delete the nonfunctioning Google play services from M96 and then downloadd them from internet ?

Last update of Google play services is not compatible with Android 4.0.4 gapps, you need to uninstall this update and disable the services because it always ready to be updated when WiFi is on.

When I updated my T68 with the newest April update, I started getting these messages and more. The only way I could change it was to do a factory reset. Now it's fine, as it was before the update.

I'm surprised that Booxstor hasn't updated the OP yet with the April updates.

Actually, once I did the reset, I see improvements. My T68 runs faster than it did with the last update - which seemed VERY slow. Battery life seems a little better, too - or at least the battery indicator goes down more slowly. My T68 is now a useable option once again.

New Firmware M96

Hi guys,

Does anybody happen to know what that new switch next to the A2 button in the header does? When I click on it, it switches between +/- and </>. So far, I've tried some button combinations and button+stylus and didn't seem to produce any noticeable result.

So if anybody happens to have noticed anything or has a plausible explanation, please share your thoughts!

Cheers,

CJ

I think that it is to use the volume as navigation buttons

Oh. That would actually have been cool. Tried it. Unfortunately, what it does is to switch the function of the page turn buttons from turning pages to volume. I'm not sure I get why this is added functionality... my explanation: setting the tts-volume easily in neoreader while turning pages with the volume button. but... why?

And: has anybody tried to override the navigation button functions in neo-reader with the custom settings? And if so, did you succeed? I'm running into trouble with the buttons acting up differently in different screen views (as in: when zoomed in, joystick up/down pans the page view up and down as i set it, but sometimes it also changes text size; also, I wanted to push the text size option down to the volume button but didn't succeed)...

Why are there no release notes with any of these updates so we can decide whether it's worth taking the risk or not ?

Personally, on the M96C I'd like to see :-
Fix for the insanely annoying flickering rectangles that you get on most android apps particularly when they start up.
More responsive touch screen,
Just more responsive in general

Otherwise everything else seems to work well enough although a newer version of android would be nice like Lollipop or KitKat.

It might be my imagination but the April update seems to have improved the responsiveness of the touch screen. Also panning and zooming seems to use A2 mode with a dither for greyscale and then refreshes when you stop - very nice.

Still a little flickery when you turn the contrast up though.

Which April update? The only I see on the first page is still dated 2015-01-20. Is there some other version available for download? I'd like to know about that, please.

Thanks.,
