Hello! I hear this is where I need to go to find an SD card image for my Kobo Clara HD. Would someone be able to help me with that? I would be so grateful!

@ITKozak: You need to enable Private Messaging. This is in the "Edit Options" of the control panel. If this isn't there, it has to be added somehow. You can try posting in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=319819 to ask it to be enabled, or contact a moderator.

Hi David.

I humbly ask to send me what I need to get my Kobo Clara HD unstuck from a never ending restoring loop.

I wasn't doing anything special. I was offered a software update. I pressed "Do it Now" or something like that.

Two hours later the device just keeps on rebooting with restoring .... message on it.

I didn't know a software update offered by the device can cause this.

Thank you very much David.

Would you say that balenaEtcher is a reliable image flasher for macOS? or would you recommended another.

I flashed the image. It completed, but it complained there was a mismatch in the checksum or something like that. I tried it twice.

I have put the card in, but it seems the continuous restoring loop continues.How long would it normally take to restore when it's working?

Additionally. I don't really know how to turn off the device. The power button doesn't react to presses or touches.
How do I turn it off? Or maybe it's pointless?

Did you overwrite your old card or did you use a new card? Sometimes they just go bad... I'm not sure if there is another condition that could trigger a restore loop.

I have used the same card since I don't have another 8GB microsd. I only have another 32GB microsd card.

When I look at the old card content under macOS I can still see my books on the card after flashing. Does that mean the flashing didn't work?

I mean it went through the flashing process. It took around 5 minutes to finish. It completed and then during validation phase said "Checksum does not match for range [0, 30408703]: "some numbers""

I figured out how to turn off the device. I disconnect the battery, then reconnect it. After that I can turn on the device with the Power button. Though the Restoring loop continues for now.

well, i flashed the image to the bigger sd card and it seemed to have done the trick. the device restored, booted and now it's asking me to setup wifi and an account. so i guess the original sd card went bad after all. it would seem.
