For the price of your email address and getting added to yet another mailing list, you can get The Locksmith, by Susan Kaye Quinn, free.

Based on some things said on the webpage at Amazon for the book, it is a YA work. Amazon categorizes it as in the Cyberpunk subgenre of Science Fiction.

Frankly, it's not what I consider to be a particularly good deal in and of itself, since the book is only 42 pages long and the Kindle mobi is only 99 cents. However, author Quinn is a very prolific writer (I counted about 25 books of her books at Amazon, before getting tired of it and giving up) and you might want to read this short book as a way of exploring a new (to you) author to see if you might be interested in purchasing one or more of her books.

Anyway, here's the link to use to get the freebie, as well as some additional information about the book (FYI--the book's webpage at Amazon is here). I have not tried requesting the offer myself (I don't like fiction, and don't want to get added to another mailing list for it), so I don't know how or how well it works.

This post is made on this thread, and not one of the Fiction threads and/or the YA thread, because the book is self-published.

In a pretty rare circumstance, I do know how long the markdown on the ebook will (or is supposed to, at least) last. The price goes up to $3.99 at about midday Eastern time on Sunday. If you're reading this after that time, well, you might be outta luck.

The Amazon ratings on this book are a little weak (for my tastes), but there's really not enough of them to get a true picture. At GoodReads they're about the same (but there are less of them), but GoodReads raters tend to be . . . . how shall I say this nicely . . . . less charitable with their ratings than Amazon reviewers.

Don't hesitate to at least give this book a look (I just made that up.

) because it is self-published. The author has at least one other book on the Knight's Templar for sale at Amazon, in addition to a novel there, set in Medieval times. He has also published research works on Classical Latin poetry and created software tools to facilitate the study of ancient languages. He also translated Medieval and Classical prose and poetry. But I could do those things too, if I wanted to. Well, okay, I'm lying, I couldn't.
