- The update animation is a bit annoying because the continuous refreshment but I think that isn't important (anyway...) - I see, download and select the update but... no options (or anything) when I touch unzip_FW_to_kobo.msh, only a little flash. Of course, no unzip at all and can't handdle update. - Also I note that only can access to the downloaded file via unzip_FW_to_kobo.msh while WiFi is active but at this point it isn't necessary because just downloaded. May be interesting to show a list of downloaded updates at some point or with a script to list. Edit: Like nothing show with unzip_FW_to_kobo.msh maybe that was a bad appreciation by me, by the way the list of file it's a good idea for me. It's the first time I use the integrate options to download firmware and I think it's a great adition. Probably I will use in the future. Last edited by boriar; 08-21-2015 at 04:34 AM. Thank you for testing again.

I think it is a nice way to get the most recent update without having to change affiliates or to wait until someone posts the download link. |

May I ask you to install the latest test version, which is available from the same post as the previous one, unless you already did so. I think it is painless. You can simply install it over your current version (handle update > install update). I had to change the way animations are displayed (used for instance in check db integrity, and KSM update), since it caused screen rotation on H2O (and Aura HD, I guess). Would be nice to hear that it does not break something for Glo HD. Last edited by tshering; 08-21-2015 at 06:09 AM. |

I think I installed update_3 but how can I know it?
Edit: I found the method 'show update history.sh' and YES, you're right. I'm on update_2. Sorry, my fault! I will check again. Last edited by boriar; 08-21-2015 at 05:43 AM. |

To see the installed updates,
(I just noticed that you found it already.) If the update was not installed, and you do it now. You can then continue the Kobo FW update with "tools" > "kobo FW update.msh" > "unzip FW to kobo.msh" (check if it is the correct mark FW for your device, just be sure!) I think you have been nijaed before
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Joke apart, installed (now yes) and all gone perfect. Is posible to reduce the animation only to fit the arrow? |

This would be nice. (I mean the thing with the animation. I am not sure how nice it were if I had been nijaed before. I googled it but did not find the correct thing. I guess I am not up to date.) We have to ask Frostschutz how this works (I mean about the animation thing, not about nijaed). The other thing I am thinking (apart from my next rebirth) is to slow the animation down. For example, while the huge file is downloaded it would be sufficient if the pointer moves every 5 seconds or so. I think that would make it more acceptable.

@tshering
'ninjaed' is a situation common in forums when you are writing about something and other one post about it moments before your post is show. I said it because I edit my post about the way to know version installed a moments before you post the answer for me. Don't worry about it! Was only a joke. |

http://de.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ninja%27d
http://de.urbandictionary.com/define...=got+ninja%27d pngshow currently has only one mode of updating the display, whereas pickel has two (showpic and showpic 1 or whatever). It wasn't made with animations in mind. There may be less noise on the display if you use pure 1 bit black+white imagery (that covers the full screen). I might make pngshow more powerful in the future… |

I think for now I leave it with the noise, and wait for the more powerful version. Otherwise I would have to provide images in different sizes for each model. Right? |

In the OP, is says:
- Kobo Start Menu 07 This mod is supposed to work under FW 2.6.0 to 3.16.0. Currently there is a problem with FW 3.16.1 and 3.17.0! 3.17.3 should be ok. - Can I infer from this that it is ok to now load 3.17.3, or should i still wait for the KSM08 version? Thank You, JFeole |

The KSM had some trouble with 3.16.10 and 3.17.0 because sickel, solved with a moded scripts uploaded some posts ago (i don't remember which) but like KSM08 is over us with no problems with these fw at all better wait for the new version.

Hi,
maybe a stupid question, but can I update the firmware with the current version of KSM (or at least add the patch by GeoffR)? Cheers, Joachim |
