oh that drives me CRAZY !! and sometimes you get the most irrelevant stuff, i can't remember what it was i installed recently that wanted me to install the yahoo toolbar, something completely random though (avast ?). real player *is* obnoxious, but ironically in the past it's usually been real player that tries to get you to install it along with some other (unrelated...) app ; i've never had the opposite happen yet.

nate, i forget where i saw it, but i'm pretty sure there was some sort of app floating around for a while which would let you read real player files (including streaming) in the media player of your choice... you might want to hunt around. if i can remember what it was called i'll post a link (if i can find it again).

Been there, done that...

A train attendant looking at me, trying to get my bike in the train before the doors would close. And not lifting one finger. The end of that trip was much better though. I was even pushed away and wasn't allowed to lift a finger, but that was in Switzerland...

Where did the download come from? It didn't do that here on a direct install from Real's site.

(I already have Chrome installed, but then, I have just about every browser installed. The one I normally use is Firefox 3.5.)

I grabbed RealPlayerSP from the link on the main page: http://www.real.com/

I didn't get Chrome as part of the deal. It's possible that's because I already had Chrome installed. I'll play a bit more and see what happens.
