Bilbo was quick and correct. I thought people would quickly come up with the duck-billed platypus (one species), but thought the [technical name echidnas] spiny anteaters might prove tougher. Take it away.

I reread Bill Bryson's Down Under not that long ago. It's in there.
Next question; What was famously discovered in 1938 and has a name that means 'hollow spine'? |

So, I'm going to bed shortly. If anybody wants to chip in with an interim question, go for it.

For such an international and culturally aware group as this, I offer the following questions from various places around the world;
1. What is a BERIMBAU? 2. In Japan, who typically wears a KIMONO? 3. A CASSOULET is a typical Occitan meal. What is it mostly made of? 4. What is the HARMATTAN? 5. From which country comes the musical ensemble called MARIACHI? 6. A SHADOOF would be most useful for which occupation? 7. What natural item is traditionally used to play the game of AWALE? 8. What is a TILAKA? 10. Of which country is PATO the national game? Best out of the 10 wins! Stitchawl |

1. What is a BERIMBAU?
2. In Japan, who typically wears a KIMONO? SneakySnake - everyone. Yes, it's 'formal wear' for men, women, and children. 3. A CASSOULET is a typical Occitan meal. What is it mostly made of? Hamlet53 - Beans mainly, and some sort of meat. 4. What is the HARMATTAN? 5. From which country comes the musical ensemble called MARIACHI? Hamlet53 (faster than Sneaky) - Mexico 6. A SHADOOF would be most useful for which occupation? 7. What natural item is traditionally used to play the game of AWALE? (Many of you have played this game... A manufactured one was very popular!) 8. What is a TILAKA? (Every single one of you has seen a tilaka!!!!!!) 10. Of which country is PATO the national game? So far, Hamlet 2 Sneaky 1 Three of the seven down... still a chance for a different winner... Stitchawl |

Only two that I think I know.
The harmattan is a wind - not sure where, but somewhere hot I believe. The tilaka is the red mark on the forehead used in some religions. |

OK... some hints;
1. What is a BERIMBAU? Brazilians are 'moved' by it... 6. A SHADOOF would be most useful for which occupation? It lifts and carries something from one place to another 7. What natural item is traditionally used to play the game of AWALE? (Many of you have played this game... A manufactured one was very popular!) Awale 10. Of which country is PATO the national game? Sort of a mounted soccer game. The 'ball' has handles. You guys need to travel more often!!! ![]() Stitchawl[/QUOTE] |
