We got pissed down on last night. My pool was at the overflow this morning and I keep it about three inches below that. It's a 20' by 40' pool, so (carry the eleventy, divide by Adrian...) that's a helluva lot of water!

Well, yeah he didn't say if it actually overflowed or not so the doctor is still out on that one......I always think it's funny how people are easily confused about measuring rainfall.

That's not unusual here during storm season, but then we're at the tropical end of sub-tropical. It's a fair whack of rain in a short amount of time when it happens.

Your pool area's flat too, yeah? Your garden/lawn soaked? With us any overflow runs out under the front fence and down the street (we're on a steepish hill, plus said hill is sand, so very absorbent).

The overflow here runs around the yard a bit, visits the basement, and eventually runs down the drive.

"It's raining as we speak but you won't notice it because it's not hitting the ground."
Apparently, the rain was hitting the Upper Stupidity Layer and being dumped in pshrynk's backyard.

Hi man of knowledge. What he said is quite frequent over deserts. Big convective clouds release outbursts of rain that do not reach the ground. They evaporate in the hot air.

Cloudy again, but no rain. My parents (about 200 km West of here) told me on the phone that it hasn't rained on their garden for 4 weeks, and their lawn looks like a doormat
