Basically, this is similar to Stephen King's THE STAND and like that book, there is a break from "Book 1" to "Book 2" about halfway through. When I was a teenager I read the first half (called "Book 1") and then I took what was supposed to be a break of a day or two. I never went back to it. I was dumb because I had absolutely loved it. Alas when I was younger, I would "half read" almost as many books as I read in total. Now I just bought it for $2.99 with the intention to start reading it all over and finish this time!

An extremely enjoyable book.

You may also wish to check out Alan Rodgers' "FIRE", which came out about the same time as the McCammon book.

Rodgers is sadly neglected today, but he's a wonderful writer.

He died way too early.

I've not read Neverland yet, but Clegg is a very good writer. And his books rarely seem to go on sale.
Thanks, picked these two up.

*The audiobook is only $1.99 for Neverland after purschasing the ebook!

Keep an eye on McCammon with ereaderiq. His books go on sale fairly often. You can get a pretty large McCammon collection for cheap.

I preferred The Stand to Swan Song, but neither is really my type of story, though, having grown up in the '80's, I do have a soft spot for tales of nuclear war (which sounds so perverse, now that I've typed it)

I picked up a book yesterday, Dead God of Holdrege Valley. It's full price at $3.99 and I haven't started it yet, so this isn't a recommendation. I just thought the synopsis sounded interesting. I do like Lovecraftian horror and tales of creepy small towns.

I couldn't figure out how to add the book to ereaderiq. I think the author is just too small. He's got this book and one other that is too new to have any reviews yet.

Quote:
Unimaginable horror and intrigue overtake a man tracking the last known whereabouts of his best friend.

Brandon Caulfield, esteemed traveling journalist for the Washington Chronicle has gone missing while on assignment in sleepy Holdrege Valley. In a picturesque former mining town lying in the shadow of Virginia’s highest mountain peak, Sawyer Blacklock must search out and find what has happened to his best friend. Sawyer seems to be the only one who has pieced together that Brandon is in trouble...

The peaceful town of Holdrege Valley is not at all what it seems, however. Along with a kind-hearted innkeeper, Sawyer must contend with unexplainable and indescribable phenomenon that seem to plague his search. As more of the puzzle is uncovered, Sawyer runs across and must delve into the inner machinations of a strange religious cult that has swept into the Valley. A shadowy group of zealots have seemingly infiltrated the inner workings of Holdrege Valley for their own divine purpose.

Will the world bear witness to the rebirth of the DEAD GOD OF HOLDREGE VALLEY?

Thanks! I've put it on my "want list" at Amazon with the anticipation of a possible future buy.

If you're using erraderiq, I'd recommend tracking it there, too. Amazon doesn't email you when stuff in your list goes on sale. Not sure why. I wish they did.

I've always found betrachian [frog-like] lips very exciting, so I may have to get this ebook that pays homage to Lovecraft!

Thank you.

House of Sighs by Aaron Dries ($0.99)

In House of Sighs, Local bus driver, Liz Frost, pulls the gun from her mouth and decides to live with her loneliness for one more day. She dresses, combs her hair, and goes to work. Nine souls board her route that fateful morning in rural Australia, nine souls who Liz drags back to her home against their will. She wants to build a new family from these passengers, men and women who are willing to kill to avoid becoming her kin. The bus leaves a trail of carnage in its wake as it rockets towards a house that has held its secrets for far too long, a place where crows now gather, ready to feed on whatever is left behind.

I already had it, but didn't know I had it.

Someone read the darn thing and tell me if I should read it; or perhaps I've already read it and don't know if I have already read it. In that case, it must not be very good. On the other hand, it might be very good, indeed - if I read it.
