It's only the .exe file at this link, though, not the whole archive as usual. Or am I missing something?

Self-extracting package, thus the exe. It has all the previous mods in it too.

if you dont like the self extracting function, you can also rename the extension .exe to .7z

I just wasn't aware of the existence of self-extracting archives. Now I just right-clicked and chose "unpack" from the 7-zip menu - worked perfectly. About half the size of a normal .rar or .zip, that self-extracting thingy, it seems. Not bad.

I think the default as per Metazoa's original kpg.conf has the 'Disabled' option selected rather than the 'Decreased' option. So if you didn't swap the options before proceeding it would explain why you can't see page x of y.
Thanks, I'll have a look at that and see if I can change it.

Hi.

I am still experiencing problems with the left and right margin.
The left margin is a little bigger than the right one.

My code:

Code:
<Patch>
patch_name = `Margins fine tuning`
patch_enable = `yes`
# Initial replaces
replace_bytes = 848E86, 19 46, 00 21
replace_bytes = 848E88, 1A 46, 00 22
# Values for replace
# Left margin
replace_int = 848E86, 0, 00
# Top margin
replace_int = 848E88, 0, 00
</Patch>
Is there a way to make the two margins exactly the same?
Is there a way to make the left margin negative?

FW is 2.8.1

For firmware 3.1.0 (at least the mark4 flavour), the Xor for ReadingFooter is 58 starting at 13FA550.

Here are some patches for firmware 3.1.0 (d1b2f00933), tested on my Glo. Since libnickel.so.1.0.0 is the same in both the mark4 and mark5 archives, these patches should work on Glo/Aura HD/Aura and whichever other devices can run the mark4 or mark5 firmware.

Here are the normal line spacing, font size, margins, and page breaks patches:
Spoiler:
Code:
# Firmware 3.1.0 (d1b2f00933)

<Patch>

This is an alternative for the line spacing patch which allows an extra 4 line spacing values:

and the bug that causes a redundant cover image to be downloaded/generated is still present in this firmware, so here is a patch to fix it:

There are some limited patches that can be applied using Metazoa's patcher. I've pasted my kpg.conf for 3.1.0 into the code block below. To use it, extract the libnickel.so.1.0.0 from the firmware file and place it in a directory with the kpg.conf and kpg.exe (from Metazoa's v11 patcher) and run as usual.

Code:
# Kobo Patch Generator config file
# firmware ver. 3.1.0
# (c) 2013 MZ
#

<Patch>
patch_name = `Custom reading footer style`
patch_enable = `yes`
# CSS. Then CSS over zlib. Then CSS over XOR "crypto". Then CSS over XOR+NOT "crypto". Kobo managers, are you wacky ???
#
# Disable footer example
#replace_xor_58 = 13FA550, `ReadingFooter {\n\tmin-height: 70px;\n\tmax-height: 70px;\n\tqproperty-footerMargin: 40;\n}\n\nReadingFooter[deviceCodeName="kraken"], \nReadingFooter[deviceCodeName="phoenix"] {\n\tmin-height: 82px;\n\tmax-height: 82px;\n\tqproperty-footerMargin: 15;\n}\n\nReadingFooter[deviceCodeName="dragon"] {\n\tmin-height: 120px;\n\tmax-height: 120px;\n\tqproperty-footerMargin: 20;\n}\n\n* {\n\tfont-size: 16px;\n}\n\n[deviceCodeName="kraken"], \n[deviceCodeName="phoenix"] {\n\tfont-size: 20px;\n}\n\n[deviceCodeName="dragon"] {\n\tfont-size: 26px;\n}\n\n[localeName="ja_JP"] {\n\tfont-family: A-OTF Gothic MB101 Pr6N;\n}`, `* {\n\theight: 5px;\n\tfont-size: 1px;\n\tcolor: transparent;\n}\n\n`

For me, shrinking the footer and customizing the font size and line spacing are the more critical items.

Much thanks to GeoffR for his work on this.

Interesting.
Using the new version 10 on the FW 2.8.1 with the same config it is reversed. The left margin is slightly smaller than the right one.
