my problem exactly. At least it could remember the last used dictionary. So with the first lookup I select the translation I need, and any subsequent selections start from that dictionary.

Funny, in my case the first dictionary language opened by default is "Deutsch", i.e. german. I guess that's because I selected german as system language. So, I guess the default language for the dictionary is the system language. But I don't argue that either the device should be smart enough to detect it's an english/german/whatever book or it should be able to store the language selected for dictionary lookups when reading a certain book and keep that language as default (for said book). I mean come on, the books&metadata are already stored in a DB.

Kobo wifi light changes color to indicate charging is complete. I would like for Kobo Touch light to do same thing.

Love the new firmware!

Here is my wishlish for the next versions:

- Do not require the use of the Kobo Desktop Software before using the device.
- Add French dictionary
- At the bottom of the screen, where 'PG. 32 sur 75' is displayed, give the option to display the book progress as a progress bar & percentage.
- Add the option to show the time of the last page refresh besides the book progress status line.
- KT sometimes crash. Send diagnostics to the Kobo team on the next sync. (Data about the book, last actions performed, memory dump, etc)
- While using the dictionary or translation features, detect the language of the book using tags provided by Calibre.
- Easier access to the dictionary. Long press on a word should bring the definition of the selected word.
- Be able to display tags in the book list, such as categories and series data.
- Maybe it could be possible to fix battery indicator by analyzing the number of pages turned and time since the last full charge?
- While adding books to the database, display a progress bar and informations about the book being processed.
- Add an option to disable the Reading Life and Facebook integration modules.
- Open Source and let someone scratch an itch.

Thanks for considering my suggestions.

I am going to add my voice to the "please make it so I don't have to use special Windows/mac software to just set up the device".

I did have to do a factory reset a few times and each times the kobo setup requires I inconvenience someone who has a Windows system (We are a linux household) to plug the thing in and set it up. I'd like it to work "out of the box".

I have exactly the same requests as above (especially the tag usage, quicker dictionnary access, and french dict) plus :

- Add a kind of a progress bar in the web browser because it's very difficult to know when I click if it has been taken in charge by the browser or not (huge loading time).
- Add a go to page option (for huge books with bad chapters...)

- Nice to have : wifi hotspot support (ability to redirect to browser for authentication)

Thank you in advance for considering this :-)

This. Exactly this. The implementation of this was a big bummer and a huge mistake.

Actually, the relative ease with which the firmware could be modified was the main reason for me bying a kobo touch. I am very, very disappointed that only a few days after I bought it, the newest firmware starts the locking-in I consciously avoided.
I really hope this gets removed with the next firmware update. Otherwise this is worse than amazon; everyone who buys a kindle at least knows he is going to be locked in and at the mercy of amazon.

If this does not get removed soon with newer firmwares, I will never ever buy a Kobo again, and will tell everyone to avoid them.

Using the Kobo touch since a few days, it's definetely a nice device. The pdf viewing is pretty good but I was very surprised to note that the page numbers are hiding the last line of pdf documents when viewed in portrait mode.

The following updates would be great, some already suggested :

- Option: Hide the page number. For PDF files, the page number bar can block page contents !! (and in firmware 1.9.10, sometimes the page numbers are extremely close to the last line on the page)

- Have the option to have your current page be the sleep mode / power down page. Better still have the option to choose any page of any document to be the sleep mode / power down page. Owning the french model sold by Fnac this would be a welcomed improvement

- On the french edition it would be nice to have the dictionaries showing as main language French (e.g. French to German, German to French i.o. English to German, German to English)

- On the french edition it's not possible to obtain the definition of a french word. Fixing this would add a practical feature

Thanks to the Kobo team for their reactivity and regular updates to improve the potential of this great reader.

I'd like to request software controls for screen contrast which I heard are available on the Sony & Kindle readers made with the same Pearl E-Ink screen.

Thank you in advance for considering it.

(b) please fix the POS to ACTUALLY RELIABLY register screen touches or more to the f'ing point page turns

(c) make it less of a useless piece of sh!t

(d) no wonder Borders went under allying with a useless f'ing company like Kobo

[EDIT]
(e) I should've bough the B&N Touch as it actually works FFS!

MUST have features:

- possibility to add custom dictionaries (the build-in English - German dictionary is useless, I really need something like the Collins dictionary in the Sony PRS-T1)

I don't understand, why you can add dictionaries to the Kindle (which is THE example for a closed system, where not even epub is supported) while it is not possible on the Kobo (which has a more open system structure). Please add this feature as fast as possible. More than half of my ebooks are in English, and the crappy dictionary would be the main reason to return the Kobo and keep the Sony (which I don't like at all, but the Collins dictionary is a huge advantage which outweights almost everything else).

Nice to have features:

- pdf pinch zoom (like the Sony PRS-T1)
- pdf reflow
- access notes by clicking them in the ebook
- paint in ebooks (like the Sony PRS-T1)

The Touch has pretty great PDF support for a 6" EPD reader as it is, and PDF reflow would make it a killer with PDFs. If they can get reflow onto the Touch, that'd be amazing.
