So I put my audible membership on hold for the first time, just to see how it works. Apparently, I can still buy the daily deals, although I haven’t done so yet. This might be common knowledge, and again, I have not fully tested it, but pretty cool if it actually works that way.

Yes, you do. If you have any question at all about losing credits, call Customer Service to change plans. They will prevent a snafu.

I put my membership on hold this morning and I've already found a functionality that's being withheld: the audiobook listing says if it's WhisperSync ready but it doesn't link to the relevant Kindle book, which is what it does when you're not a member. I was checking today's Daily Deal to see how the combined WhisperSync price compared to the Deal price, but I was unable to find the relevant Kindle edition (in part because of Amazon's insistence in returning titles in your result that are not the one you searched for).

This was academic only, as I don't really want to listen to Crime and Punishment, but it's an irritating policy on Amazon's part and I'm not sure I see the point. If I can't find the linked Kindle book, you can be darned sure I'm not getting the Audible book.
