All right, it's confession time. You never think about libro.fm, do you? That is except, perhaps, for the one time during the year when they have their yearly special promotion.

Well, there are a couple of deals/bargains from libro.fm, right now, that I want to tell you about. I don't remember either one of these being mentioned before.

First, I should mention to the uninitiated that libro.fm is a company or service that allows independent bookstores, with their limited resources, to get into the act of selling audiobooks like the big boys do.

Here are the deals/bargains:
#1--Libro.fm's ongoing membership plan. At least they seem to consider it a deal/bargain. It largely runs along the lines of the plans of Audible, Audiobooks.com, Kobo, ad infinitum. Here are the details of the plan:
- Receive 3 audiobook credits for $14.99, during your first month of membership.
- After your first month, you'll pay for one audiobook per month.
- Get 30% off additional audiobooks, gifts included.
- Pause or cancel your account at any time, and keep your audiobooks.
- Choose the independent bookstore that you wish to support. Powell's City of Books (located on the left coast, I think) seems to be the 800-pound gorilla in the room right now (sorry, tubemonkey, but you don't seem to have the quite the same gravitas, right now; however, from little monkeys do big gorillas grow. ).
- Lots more that seem worth checking out. There seem to be some definite advantages over, say, Audible's plan.

Somewhere on Libro.fm's website (I can't find it now), they claim to offer over 125,000 audiobooks.

#2--Libro.fm currently has a sale on 120 audiobooks going on. Frankly, many of the prices don't seem to be anything special; however, there are many which do--$5.00 or so seems to be a common price point.

Think you might want to check out the sale? Well, you've first got to select the indie bookstore that you wish to support; they are listed by state. Then, navigate to this webpage.

I do not know how frequently that they have this kind of sale.

BTW--about 2/3 of the way down the screen on the aforementioned webpage, you will see a banner(?) ad that offers "20% off your first purchase," if you'll "sign up for audiobook recommendations." I assume that that is applicable after you sign up for a membership and that it cannot go toward your first month's membership charge of $14.99. I suspect, though, that it will "stack" on the 30% that you can get off of any audiobook, after you've become a member.

With some of our longer books, such as Atlas Shrugged (63hrs), we extend the listening period to 60 days. You do have the option of purchasing a 5, 10, or 20 day extension after you have made your rental purchase.

  How many times can I listen to my rental?
  
  You may listen to a rental as many times as you would like until it expires.

  Can I extend my rental time period?
  
  Once you are logged into your Downpour.com account, you can purchase a time extension for any of your previous rentals via THIS link. After clicking “Extend Rental,” you have the option of purchasing a 5-day ($1.95), 10-day ($2.95) or 20-day ($4.95) extension. If your rental has not yet expired, the purchased time will be added onto your rental. (Example: if your rental has one day remaining, and you purchase a five-day extension, you will now have six days total before your rental expires.) I had to move my Sync Overdrive folders to free up space on my small SSD, so now the playlist file paths are out of sync with the MP3's and won't play from the OD app. Anyone know how to fix the playlists or create new ones?
