Here's a scary and true story about a cashier's check and and a house closing...

In Oct 1992 my brother and I were closing on the house we currently live in. He got a cashier's check for $27,000 for the closing. He decided to stop for something (I forget what), and got out of the car. As we drove off, I did a checklist of the items for the items we needed for the closing. NO CASHIER'S CHECK. We went back and hunted for 10 minutes around the grounds where we had been before we found the check, on the ground next to some bushes. Talk about needing an underwear change....

What a scary thing to have happen. That's so much worse than the kinds of things most people fear, like going grocery shopping and forgetting your wallet, or things you have nightmares about, like finding yourself speaking to a large crowd while you're wearing nothing but your underwear.

Talk about FREAKIN' OUT!!!! WOW!!!

I found a (smaller) cashier's check on the ground, here at work. Fortunately, it had the owner's name and the car dealer's name on it. The owner was an old friend, so I knew where to return it. He didn't even know it was missing!

Contemplating how to get my (virtual) hands on the ebook version of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! NPR featured an interview with the author, and I couldn't stop laughing. I read the first couple of pages on Amazon. Of course, it's only available for the Kindle or Sony, neither of which I have....

Oh, here's the interview: http://www.hereandnow.org/2009/05/rundown-528/#6

well I'm getting ready to meet our new commander. we are being switched over to the good old fashioned Army Signal Corps instead of this ill advised civilian slanted business driven disaster that has been making dial tone for the past few years. maybe life will make sense again!
