Yes, it certainly is! It's BBQ'd beef (sometimes pork is used but beef is more common,) that has been marinated in 'kouchijan,' delicious Korean hot pepper and soy bean paste, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and grilled over a Korean BBQ grill, sliced thinly off the bone and served. Bulgogi and Kalbi are the two most popular Korean beef dishes! Bulgogi usually uses sirloin sliced thin while Kalbi uses the short ribs.

Poutine is from Quebec, Canada
This is probably the only time that I will be able to answer even part of a Quiz question. |

OK, some hints... Shchi is the 'last name' of a daily soup that you ALL know! Yoshinoya is the oldest established restaurant chain that I mentioned before Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 01-14-2012 at 07:11 PM. |

That's sort of funny because until the mention of the restaurant I was going to guess that Donburi might be from Japan. |

I also thought Donburi and/or Mokeka might be from Japan. Not because I know anything, but just because the spelling looks like it might be Japanese.

We'll give this one to you... Gai IS chicken in Thai. 'Larbgai' is a Thai minced chicken dish made with sliced shallot, spring onion, mint leaves, lime juice, fish sauce, and of course, Thai 'prik' (birdseye chili.) Delicious! Easy to find in every Thai restaurant and on every street corner vendor's stall! Balut - ? Phillipines Sneaky Snake Larbgai - ? Thai Sneaky Snake Poutine - ? Quebec, Canada red_pheonix Bakso - ? I think that if you guys had difficulties with the popular ones, you'd never tumble to Bakso. Oh... Mokeka is a Portugeses/Brazillian dish made from mixed seafoods, green pepper, chopped tomatoes, all cooked in coconut milk. Quick, easy, and delicious. A bit of salt and pepper, and a dash of red pepper complete it. It seems that Sneaky Snake had four correct out of the group, so lets let her give us the next question. Sneaky... take it away! I learnt a new word today. "purpurin". (yay for Montalbano!)
What is it? Where does it come from? What is/was it used for? The thing not the word. |
