Ugh. Plotting a mystery/thriller. Working on red herring now. They're a pain in the ass.

Kudos to all the mystery writers out there. I'm having some serious mental sweats.

I'm working on the third book of my Tales from the Green fantasy series, The Tainted Sliver. Depending on where the story takes me this could be the thrilling conclusion of the series, though I feel I may end up with a quadrilogy before this is all over. There's just too many years of ideas and notes since the first book was started. I hope to finish The Tainted Sliver before the end of the year, maybe a little longer depending on how much editing it needs.

As a side project and a break from epic fantasy I am doing research into 1850s Texas, the period between annexation and the Civil War. Once I get a solid feel for the period and flesh out my characters I plan on throwing some supernatural aspects into the blender to see what comes out. It should be good for at least one book.

Taking a break from my new writing at the moment. I'm editing some of my novels for publication instead. When I get back to the new stuff, I've got the sequel to my second novel, called Tales of Uncle, to continue, as well as a short story or two to tinker on as the spirit moves me.

Gave up on the mystery/thriller and went back to my pulp influences. I just did a general plot/arc for "Blood Moon," a weird western.

Nothing.

I've stopped working, in the middle of a new work. Maybe I'm having a crisis of conscience, or maybe it's just the heat, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself this book... any book... is worth my time writing it.

I need to spend more quality time with my wife, family and friends. I need to work harder at my job, and plan for the next job when this one dries up. I want vacations. I want to enjoy my back yard. Somehow, those goals seem more important right now than writing books for less than a dozen people to read.

Bah, we'll see what happens in a few months.

chill out, relax, enjoy - perhaps leave the writing until the autumn when the weather changes for the worse .... come back with renewed vigour .

I've been having something of a creative crisis myself the last few years and keep flitting from one form to another. The one consistent thing I find though it that usually I need to take the pressure off, relax and give myself permission to create in whatever media/form I feel drawn to....currently that is Digital Painting....

Follow Geoff's advice let it go for the moment, all will be fine!

I've been writing a great deal, although lately it's been blog posts, at [self-promotional link deleted - MODERATOR] and some of my other blogs (I own 3 and post on 5). For some reason about 2 weeks ago I started blogging almost every day, although that spurt of creative energy seems to be drying up. Otherwise I spent a good bit of time editing my novels, for eventual publication in 2011. I also have 4 shorts I'll be editing sooner or later. My WIP has only gained a page or so in the last few weeks.

My novel coming out next year was originally titled Blood Moon! I got the title from a book on a shelf called Blood Moon, which originally inspired me with the story. I decided I didn't like the title, though, and found an alternate name, St. Martin's Moon.

Blood Moon was a bad idea. Makes me think of vampires. I hate vampires. It's now "Beyond the Hills" and probably will change again. =)

Overloading myself as usual. I'm:

1) Doing developmental editing on other people's short stories for an anthology.
2) Working on ghostwriting the novelization of an audioplay.
3) Writing a short story for said anthology.
4) Just picked up the NaNo I had to interrupt for paying work and I'm going to try to complete it: Doc Vandal rides again!
