Exclamation Protection with password

Hello everybody,
My Onyx Boox Note has just been stolen in the plane - and I realize now that a big issue of Boox Note is the imposibility to encrypt your data or even to protect the device with a password - at least for starting.
I couldn't find a way in the menu to perform that - even if it has Android 6 as OS.
Maybe anybody else tried this?
Thanks.

Yes you can (this seems Obama )

Install Nova Launcher or any other launcher that allows you to access the Marshmallow security settings and setup the screen lock

IMPORTANT: This device has an internal SD that is slow (30MB/s for read and write) so, don't enable encryption, with initial password till now should be enough because the boot loader is locked.

If you still want to encrypt content, install Boxcryptor Classic on you device and your PC (only version 1.7) and use Dropsync to sync your files, I use this method even in my phone.

Too bad for the stolen Max2...

On the subject of the Max2 and planes: I was on a few international flights with my Max2 recently, and at one of the airports, the security guys spent several minutes looking at my device on their scanners. I don't know what they saw, or believed they saw (there was a lot of electronics for them to look at in my case: a regular iPad, two large-screen eink devices, a standard laptop...)

I'm enjoying reader the Guardian on my boox note, however, a slight touch on the page auto changes the screen to A2. The A2-icon does not appear, just seeing the rough-edged typeface, instead of smooth.
Anyone knows how to turn off this auto feature? It might be a bug.

Thanks!

It's a feature: during animation, you are supposed to prefer fast mode and avoid the flashing of Greyscale Update.
Of course, as soon as you have finished scrolling the display should return to normal GU mode.

I think they have modified Android's WebView to achieve that: it is a customization of Android.

On my boox n96ml if I use opera mini beta (in extreme data saving mode) the feature you describe fails to start, and it does not revert from a2 after scrolling, though it must be reset manually sometimes, or the screen image goes all "swarmy", where it's hard to see anything. The change, otherwise, is very slow to revert, unlike the Note.

Thanks. It seems to be triggered by a tap, not by scrolling (in the Guardian app - I don't know how it behaves in a browser), and does not auto return, that also triggered by tapping. I guess my scrolling feels to much like tapping on this device. But that is not yet customisable on the onyxbooxnote (as far as I know).

A feature request on the BBS should be raised to make the automated switch to Fast/A2 mode optional. I will raise it, if you do not mind.

OK, the Note has arrived yesterday, cover included - tot.:20 days (but only 12 working days). I like it, it has a good response to touch or stylus. I hoped the background would be a little more white and less gray. About the note-taking I'm not sure ... I don't think it would be able to replace note-taking on a conventional piece of paper in some situations: still not quick enough if you have to take note e.g. during a meeting. I think it is only useful if you use it to take some notes on your own, without time pressure. Another issue is that I tried to download additional dictionaries, but I found myself lost in a Chinese menu. I'm also a little disappointed by the quality of TTS which is really too artificial (this meant that you can't use it e.g. for the read of entire books (as if were an audiobook). Anyway, although this little negative considerations, I like it and I think I'll have a lot of fun with it!

Hi, where have you found the dictionaries? I tried to search for them with the download function in Dict app, but nothing happens.

Hi Bongio, just press lightly somewere in the middle of a page of an open book and you should see two menus apperar, one on the top and another on the bottom of the page. In the top menu you will see an icon in form of a book (with a big and a small A printed on the cover). Press it and then, in the new menu, press again the icon in form of a book (with an A and a Z printed on the cover + the download arrow). this procedure will lead you in a dictionaries download page ... but is all written in Chinese!!!
