I think I am back to normal. Still have some coughing but dang it would of been better to just shoot me.

I do get the pneumonia shot every 5 years. My next shot is due in January. This started out as a sinus infection that turned into bronchitis then pneumonia.

At one point I was not even interested in reading

thanks for all the well wishing. I am scheduled for another pneumonia shot and my flu shot in 2 weeks. Doctor wants to make sure I am fully over everything.

Are you in Dallas? If so please stay safe! Several nurses on Facebook have said with all the training on what to wear and take off they really doubt that is how she caught it. I think the CDC hasn't told us all how easy it is to catch this as not to cause national wide panic.

I think I must have been suffering from a lack of Calibre projects (Ha!

) as I have added a custom column for putting the letter grade (this is in addition to the normal/star rating). I made the column text with a fixed set of permitted values. I figure since I am now keeping closer track of this stuff due to our weekly reports I should have it with the book.

So now I have Date Read and Read (Yes/No) as well as Grade custom columns.

I know some people track the price paid, number of pages, and number of words. Since I am always curious for new ideas about managing our libraries what other custom columns are y'all using?

My only custom columns are Read (Y/N) and Word Count, but I've thought about a Source column so I know where I bought it (sometimes more than one place) and Price Paid. I figure if I added those two I'd have to add Date Purchased too.

I do have a Source column in my Calibre Warehouse library. I only have the books, basic metadata, series info, etc in that library with the original books (without doing anything to them). Then I copy the books to either my main library or my vault library which is where I add the book's blurb and process the books to remove excess front or back matter and fix the css as applicable.

My vault library also has a "Date Archived" custom date column.

For the warehouse library the Source column is first and for the vault library the Date Archived column is first. This way I know at a glance which library I am in.

I like that the Date Read and Read (Yes/No) columns copy to Calibre Companion. So I can see the green checkmark by books I have already read when I am looking through my library on my Nexus.

* Price
* Number of pages
* Percentage of reading (for the library I keep on the reader)

- Credit (amount paid from settlement credit, google credits or random kindle credits - i.e. free money

)
- Word Count
- Publisher Imprint
- Last Read Date
- Rating (in addition to the star rating)
- Source (who I bought it from)
- Backlist (Y/N column to flag self pubbed backlist titles previously legacy published)
- Shelf

I only have 1 library with several virtual libraries. The "Shelf" column is heavily used with my VLs. It's a pick list that is a super group of my tags: Contemporary, Category, Erotica, Paranormal, Historical, Other, Freebies and FINISHED. If a book is on a shelf other than Freebies it is a higher on my TBR pile. If I ever get to the point where the main shelves are empty I'll repopulate them from the Freebies shelf. After I read a book I change the shelf to FINISHED. One of my VLs (Unread) is set to show everything except where Shelf=FINISHED.

Yes, I agree! I just earlier this year read some non-fiction about ebola, and it is a Level 4 containment zone, the highest level, that scientists use in studying this stuff, the most contagious. The book is The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, and it's all about ebola.

The main who died in Dallas, all he did was carry the sick woman's legs. Just touched her legs!

Can you tell me where I would find this shelf column? I made a few colums, but I don't see a shelf option. I have a yes/no for read and unread and I also attached color to the book title text so green means unread and if its red its read. Gives me a visual right off.
I have one library and some virtual. I am still struggling though to make some of the virtual thingies work. I don't know anything about that "code" that needs to be in the fields, so unless its something I can pick from a preset already there, its above me.

Mostly I use tags as at least those are easy, but it gets tedious having to put those in each time I import books. So many of my virtual are just using a tag as the option, sometimes if I try to exclude stuff it doesn't seem to work the way I want to.

Is there a step-by-step tutorial on how to use the epubsplit Calibre plugin (or whatever other pgm) to split non-DRM epub books? I did look at the forum thread but it seems to assume that one knows how to use it. I have installed the plugin, but it doesn't show up in the menu bar and I am pretty lost...
