Smile Support Thai font firmware request

Hi Kobo Touch team,

I am Thai Kobo fan. I bought some books from Kobobooks.com using Kobo android app many months ago and then my sister who visited Canada brought me Kobo touch ereader. I just get the device and felt so impressed. This ereader is stun. I lived in Thailand and I followed the instruction of loading fonts to Kobo touch in youtub.com and I can do it easily. I have some Thai epub files and I found that after adding Thai fonts, I can read Thai character but...

The problem is about Reflowing process. Kobo touch using Thai fonts cannot reflow. The Thai letters just over the right screen and don't move to the next line.

Please add Thai font to your firmware and I hope this will help about reflowing process for Thai epub files. If you need help about Thai fonts or anything about Thai language, you can let me know and I'm eager to do this. I think if your cool and not too overpriced device can read Thai, you can have a great chance to establish the ereader device in Thai market

Many thanks for reading my request.

If this is a document in PDF format, frankly Kobo does not support PDF's all that well.

On the other hand, if it is an ePub then it can help greatly if you can open a problem ticket with Kobo, giving them full details of both the document and the font being used.

As far as I know, the official means to open a problem ticket is via an eMail to help@kobobooks.com .

The document is in ePub format. I will open a problem ticket as you suggested. Many thanks Peter.

I realize that some of my suggestions have already been mentioned, but I prepared a bit of a list so I'll just mention them anyway:

The Library feature needs some work:

- Folder and Tag support - with subfolders for authors, series...etc.

- The ability to view metadata, publishing info, dates, series info ...etc. from the Library browser.

- The ability to Sort Library by tags, publishing date, series info...

The dictionary is nice, but it could be tweaked a little:
- The capability to highlight a word within the dictionary entry and look it up would be a significant improvement.

-Additional language translation support would be nice: Latin, Greek, Russian... etc.

Some Installed Reference Work would be amazing, but if that is not feasible I have an alternative:
- Some sort of customizable shortcut tab which is accessible from either the Home page or within a book itself where links to installed reference works could be added. The capacity to search within said reference work for highlighted text would be a nice addition too.

- Bookmarks within individual books.

- Home page customization: Tabs for reference works... etc

- Support for custom images for sleep and power-off pages

- I can understand that Kobo might want to withhold some advanced functionality (social networking...etc) from side-loaded epubs, but the ability to save notes and highlights shouldn't be too difficult to add.

- Some sort of keyboard based general notepad which is accessible from within books could be very useful. The same notes could then be accessed within different books. The drawing pad was a cute toy, but this could be much more useful.

- Support for CBR, CBZ, RTF, HTML, TXT, and some basic image formats.

- The spacing of buttons could do with some level of customization for people with adult-sized hands, or Support for Stylus Use might obviate the problem.

- The Sudoku is neat addition, but is not a high priority.

Some Bugs:
- Page numbers in KEPUB files need to be fixed: Pages in current chapter?! Huh!?

- I've noticed a problem where the sorting by author does not seem to follow the criteria followed by calibre

- While not a reader-specific problem there needs to some option within the Kobo site to just check for software updates.
A slow internet connection means that it can take half an hour to check for updates because it wants to automatically sync all my books.

Anyhow, that's all I can think of at the minute.
I hope you like some of my suggestions.

The reason Kepubs tell you the page within chapter is because each chapter is an individual file.

Bookmarks and annotations are in beta.

Hmmm... I'm not sure that's true because I create my custom ePub file using Sigil and .html files for chapteres are seperated. Still no page within chapter though.

I personally think that KOBO EPUB has more features than normal EPUB for Kobo Touch which is understandable. You pay for Kobo epub files, you should get MORE than normal EPUB files you added manually.

Well soon they will be almost the same (Except for page count).

I know that the chapters are different html files in regular epubs, but with kepubs something (Don't know what) is different. The chapter turns are slower in Kepubs.

Probably the DRM scheme they're using being slow and wonky. (almost certainly not standard Adobe DRM because downloaded DRM'd epubs from the library work nice and fast)

I agree with all of those. I'd also request better MOBI support (I haven't been able to get my MOBI files to load correctly)

Hey guys. Loving the 1.9.14 firmware so far! You guys got the majority of things I felt were missing with this one. There is really only one thing left I'd really like to see...

More library organization options. I'd like the ability to create a new category on the KT and add books to it, in a similar manner to how I can add books to the Shortlist. The ability to create a category within a category (a category for a series within a genre, for example) would also be great.

If I had that the KT would be pretty much perfect to me. Thanks, guys!

First, I'd like to thanks the Kobo team for making a great device and for improving it even more!
My only requests are:

* Library organization (folders and/or tags)
* Spanish dictionary
* Twitter integration, not everybody likes Facebook!! (I konw I am a minority here...)

The first two are in the cards, not sure of the timing though at this point. On the twitter front, I'm a big twitter user so I'd definitely want to have it. However our data from our other apps suggest that the ratio of usage for 'post to facebook' vs. 'post to twitter' is *very* heavily skewed towards facebook, so FB usually gets prioritized over twitter. We'll do our best though!

I don't know if this has been asked before but I'd like to see a scheduled sync feature. A cron job to enable wifi, sync and then disable wifi.

Would it be possible to integrate Wikipedia (preferably to the mobile version) lookup, similar to dictionary lookup? That might come in handy for technical terms or things like mentioned items or plants the reader is not familiar with.

Latest version is great! Love bookmarks, time display. Still wishing for:

* better library organization
* more page turn region choices (horizontal zones for forward and backward page turns)
* Wiki look-up using WiFi

Love the KBT so far (owned about 6 weeks).
Thanks!
