PA is the state with the most covered bridges. Over 200 of 'em. But there are only 29 of them in Lancaster County, which has the most in the state. There is another county in a different state that has more.

Personally, having lived there for 25 years, I always thought so too, which is what prompted this particular theme for a motorcycle ride. But the reality is that Vermont is quite far down on the list of 'totals.' It does rise to the top on the list of 'most covered bridges per square mile...'

Unfortunately, several of Vermont's bridges were either totally demolished, washed away, or suffered severe structural damage in this past summer's flooding.

A VERY good movie around covered bridges. "The Bridges of Madison County" staring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. It's a beautifully moving love story between a photographer who comes to shoot the bridges and a local housewife. But Madison County isn't the location of the most covered bridges.

Ohio has the largest Amish population of all, about 50,000 members! Followed by Pennsylvania at about 40,000. Wisconsin is fourth and Michigan is fifth. The state I'm looking for is third...

I was in the army at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana, and I think they have Amish (the state not the fort), so I'm going with them. I have no idea which county they would be in. Actually, I couldn't name a county in Indiana.

For the last 15 years or so I've been living in Rhode Island, so here is a little RI quiz.

There are five foods in which Rhode Island has a unique interpretation--
Milkshakes
Lemonade
Clam Chowder
Hot dogs
Pizza

Can you say what Rhode Island's unique interpretation is for each of them?
Bonus question. What is the state drink of Rhode Island? Yes, they have a state drink.

Clam Chowder - Clear soup rather than white for New England CC or Red for Manhattan style CC

Hot dogs - real thin and orange, served with a mystery meat sauce

Pizza - sold long and thin, and often cold? Vermont sold these at convenience stores in the '70's too.

No idea about the others.

I'm pretty sure I remember eating a clear clam soup on motorcycle rides along the coast... But clear, red, or white, I think clam chowder is going to be tomorrow night's dinner!

(I prefer New England style.)

I will take an ignorant (about Rhode Islander's cuisine) guess on a couple of other items.

Lemonade may be what one will get in Europe if one requests that, basically a carbonated beverage much like Sprite?

Milkshakes flavored with malt milk?

Regarding clam chowder, New England style is the only way to go.
