Some of my audible books are no longer available on website. Fortunately, I'd downloaded most of them, but those which I lost taught me not to rely on Audible to safekeep my audiobooks.

I have one that no longer downloads and is no longer available for sale. Audible, so far, has been unable to fix it. Fortunately, I downloaded it when I bought it so I have a copy. Storage is cheap. Even for audiobooks.

I download all my Audible books, and free them into m4b files. I've never had a problem, even though several of my books are no longer available, but having that archival copy is just smart.

When you say your audible books aren’t available, you mean ones you see in your library but can’t download? Or do you mean ones that show as unpurchased on the website but you have in the app library?

Thanks to all who contributed to the discussion about the importance of backing up Audible books.

I am one of those unfortunate people who, suddenly and without warning, had the ability to download and back up his Barnes and Noble ebook files yanked away. I'm still fuming over that (I apparently am not the only one: there is a thread, started in 2014(!) and still going strong, in the "General Discussions" forum about it).

It's important to back up.

She means that it is no longer available for sale to others. If you searched for it, you wouldn't find it, but it happily resides in her library, downloadable for her so long as no error develops. For instance, I have The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett in my library and can listen and download it fine right now. But you couldn't buy it as it hasn't been sold by Amazon for several years now.

Thanks! I have many of those too. I was just worried that there were some that were disappearing from the library.

Isn’t there a download limit? That’s part of why I don’t download things I’m not listening to.
