Only ffnet, thankfully.
A lot of ffnet fanfics are crossposted to AO3, so you can try searching for it (try both the author and fanfic title) and then swap the url: identifier in Calibre. |

There is also STARS, and FP. Some writers post on those as well. I hope ffn gets things together.

Considering how they keep breaking various functions of the site, I half-suspect it's being run by monkeys smashing on a computer keyboard.

According to fanlore, the site is owned by Xing Li. Some others do share your concern about it possibly being a one-person operation.
The Archive Team is also concerned about the site. |

Basically, could someone help me with the .ini file in Calibre? Seriously, not sure where I should ask, I know exactly 0 about any programming and computer codes, so I am really out of my depth here.
So, I'm trying to give the files prefix based on the category. Basically my idea is that if category of the fic is XYZ then the title of the fic should be changed to ABC.title. So I have this code: Quote:
My issue is that the category is changed in ALL fics, but the title only in SOME. The only way to make it work on all fics is to remove the &&category part of the second line altogether, but I can't do it, because obviously I plan on having more than one category in the end. All the stories affected are on Ao3, but I don't really use other websites, so the sample size outside Ao3 was very small. All of the affected fics seem to be only 1 chapter long (weather or not the fic is completed doesn't seem to have an effect). The titles of multi-chapter fics are changed as planned. This is extremely bizarre. Also, ideally I would like to change the titles of anthologies too. But the code above doesn't work with them and nothing else I could come up with does either. I might be just too stupid for this. |

So I am getting the weirdest error when trying to update from email. This only recently started. I know that Unicode typically means something like forign language problems and I did recently set up email updates for a fic that has japanese in the name. Is this the issue?

New Test Version Posted
2021-01-09 - Catch exception from emails not decoding, skip & logger.error(). - Disable adapter_fanfictionnet with warning about site blocking. - Add a fake get_image_size() method for when no image processing available. Closes #621 (CLI only) Note that unless you are running Calibre in debug, you probably won't see the error from email decoding and it just don't use or mark that email read. Which should make it easier to find, if nothing else. If you've been following issue #622, getting ffnet working again is looking unlikely under the current conditions. This version still allows 'update from saved column', but otherwise disables ffnet support. I may be releasing it shortly just to try and cut down on the amount of blocked traffic FFF users throw at their servers. |

First of all: THANK YOU for your work and all support you are offering.
I tried to get answer to my problem with browsing and try/fail, however I can not quite get the solution. I sort my stories in Calibre so that Series field (built in, not custom) is based on Rating from SOL. So if rating is No Sex, I have series 'SOL - No Sex'. Sure, I was able to change Rating text based on value (rating=>No Sex=>SOL - No Sex), but I am not able to populate Series field with this. I thought I could replace metakey with another (series=>rating or series=>(.*)=>rating), but it is not working. I also tried custom_columns_settings (works nicely for my custom columns) like score=>#myrating, but I can not get it to work for ex. rating=>series. What am I missing? ![]() |

You can do that with include_in_X. For example, include_in_series:rating will copy rating into series. However, I would recommend using a custom column, not the builtin series column. FFF treats series special in a few places. Results may be unpredictable. Plus, if / when you start using sites that use the series value properly, you'll have real series data and fake series data in the same column. Quote:

Just to clarify; I am using series column because of kindle (collections). And this configuration for SOL site is great as I group stories from SOL based on sex rating. If any story is in series/universes, I use that info in custom column just for cover generation. And yeah, that custom_columns_settings is dead giveaway, but I was running on empty ideas by then ![]() |
