Enjoying a cup of mocha cappuccino.

Stichawl, how exciting! I remember the glades totally surprising me. I swear the size of the insects gave me nightmares. A guide took us through the glades on his boat and out to his house in the middle of the glades. The place was surrounded by those big floating water plants, alligators, and BIG bugs! There is no way I would have stayed there at night (well, not during the day either) and he had lived there for years. I don't even know how he found his way in or out of the place.

The Keys are more civilized and have great food.

I hope you both have a great time and get to scuba.

We try and spend time in the Everglades and the Keys every time we get to Florida. As I said before, it's the only thing I like about being there. I really enjoy photographing the wildlife in the Everglades (though not the bugs) and would be more than happy to spend a few weeks camping there.

Beautiful pic, Stitchawl . I'm not fond of camping out anymore, especially if crawly things are around.

I've developed into a hotel and room service type. If I had to, I could pack camp again, but only if I had to now.

I remember an out of the way restaurant in the everglades, where we ate outside on the deck. It was expected of the customers to throw the uneaten parts of solid food over the rail into the water (no desserts or fruit). The alligators would hang out for all the pieces thrown in. It was scary how high some of them could jump.

Thanks! It was shot with a Nikon D200 with an f/2.8 28-70mm VR lens at -1exp. For some reason it doesn't look as sharp here as it does on my computer. Something about ImageShack, I guess. I almost took it down!

Am afeard o'drivin in Florida cuz of them drivers! 50% of 'em are high on recreational drugs and t'other 50% are high on their prescription drugs!
