  • FREE -- Unashamed -- Lecrae Moore/ Lecrae Moore --> 5.5 hrs --> NF memoir
Quote:
Two-time Grammy winning rap artist, Lecrae, learned this lesson through more than his share of adversity—childhood abuse, drugs and alcoholism, a stint in rehab, an abortion, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt.

Along the way, Lecrae attained an unwavering faith in Jesus and began looking to God for affirmation. Now as a chart-topping industry anomaly, he has learned to ignore the haters and make peace with his craft. The rap artist holds nothing back as he divulges the most sensitive details of his life, answers his critics, shares intimate handwritten journal entries, and powerfully models how to be Christian in a secular age.

This is the story of one man's journey to faith and freedom.

Tantor Media has Closed all Accounts

Tantor Media has now shutdown all accounts. You no longer have access to your account or "My Bookshelf". As TrevorViking mentioned earlier, you can still download any and all of the free PDF ebooks they have on their website.

A big thank you to Tantor for all of the free audiobooks they provided over the years. I wish them well with their new model.

Quote:
To Our Valued Tantor Customers,

As of January 18, 2019, Tantor will no longer sell digital downloads directly through tantor.com.

Please note we are continuing to produce all your favorite audiobooks and our products will still be available through major distributors such as Amazon, Audible, Google Play, iTunes, Audiobooks.com, and Kobo as well as through library distributors such as Hoopla, OverDrive, and RB Digital.

We ask that if you have previously purchased downloads on tantor.com that you download them to a personal device or computer as soon as you can. Any downloads located in My Bookshelf will remain accessible to you until 3/31/2019; after that time the My Bookshelf section will be removed from the site and the downloads will no longer be available.

If there are any questions about accessing downloads before they are removed please contact us directly at customerservice@tantor.com.

Thank you for your continued patronage over the years, we look forward to producing many more titles for you in the future.

Sincerely,
Your Tantor Audio Team

Audible has changed their policy on credits

When I logged into Audible today there was a notice:

"News about your credits
You can now keep your credits for up to a year."

They are spinning it like it's a good thing, but for me it may not be.

Clicking on the link takes you to this Help page.

To me it sounds like they are closing another loophole by eliminating the ability to rollover credits. Starting today, all credits will be good for 12 months only, and then expire (they will continue to be forfeit if you cancel your membership). Note: credits "issued" before today will be treated differently, see the link for details.

In the past I have purchased an annual plan and then switched to a Listener Light at the end of the year, to give me 2 years to use the credits. It looks like this will no longer be possible once I have used my current credits.

Pretty much the only reason I stick with Audible now days is for their exclusive content. In the future, I may have to stockpile the exclusive items I need to purchase with credits until I have enough to make it worth it the membership, and then cancel until I have enough again.

I found the announcement confusing enough that I thought it might be an April Fools joke, but I don't think it is.

I'm not sure, but I doubt this impacts me since I tend to use credits as soon as I get them, but I'm trying to understand how it might impact my wife, who sometimes does the annual plans, and waits for her authors to release new books.

This darn well better be a joke, because it's absurd. It's marginally acceptable to have new credits expire after a year, but it's totally unacceptable for them to decide already issued credits expire after six months--my existing credits are all over a year old already, having been issued as part of a yearly plan. They don't have the right to penalize me retroactively by suddenly changing the terms.

It does say:

Quote:
Annual plan credits issued prior to April 1, 2019 expire after 24 months.
So I guess you might be OK for a bit?

I think that as long as she usually spends all the credits before the plan is set to renew (i.e. within 12 months) she should be fine. But if, like Catlady & myself, she sometimes rolls those credits over into the next year then it may be a problem when her current set expires.

As stated above, by Ixpose, it appears that all of our existing annual credits will be good for 24 months from the date they were "issued." So your credits should be good until the end of the second year you've had them.

That is very good for me, since I am still planning to switch to Listener Light at the end of the summer (to keep the annual credits I haven't used yet). But the future isn't looking so bright.

I clearly missed the 24 months bit! Still, this is crazy.

I'd already switched to the Silver monthly plan ($14/1 credit every other month), in order to hold on to my yearly plan credits. The only thing that seems good about this new scheme is the monthly updates Audible is promising with info on when credits expire.

I don't see how this benefits either members or Audible. Seems to create headaches on both ends--once a credit is purchased, why should Audible care how long a person waits to use it?

To add to the confusion, it also has this at the bottom:

Quote:
You can continue to:
  • Enjoy instant access to our world-class Customer Service team for help finding incredible stories and overlooked gems. Use your credits stress-free and ask for an easy exchange anytime if you don't love your listen.
  • Use your unused credits to give Audible books to friends and family.
  • Take a break from membership if you need extra time to use your credits. (emphasis added)
So does that mean you can go on hold and the credits last longer than a year?

I assume it's because the credit hasn't been assigned to an author. You've always had a limit to the number of rollover credits. If you have a standard membership, it doesn't really change as you get a new credit or two every month. How they will handle Audible Lite (and whether they have updated that info) is confusing. I just got the 12 credits for $99, and expected I would lose credits at the end of the year if they weren't used. Sounds like I can roll them over an additional year?

All this credit stuff is the result of a large lawsuit.
